JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare detailed accurate material, labor, equipment, subcontracts, construction facilities, estimates, etc.
Foster relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
Attend on-site pre-bid/proposal conferences and site visits
Develop and review subcontractor scopes of work and accept, review, and analyze subcontractor quotes for best value
Prepare project bid status reports and ensure compliance with all specifications and contract Statements of Work and Bid Invitations.
Present cost estimates to meet customer proposals, providing consideration for general and special conditions.
Prepare scope specifications and requirements, prepare and inputs project schedules, perform quantity takeoffs, prepare cost summary sheets, and input quantities into estimating software
Maintain an accurate, current database cost codes of accounts for historical data

JOB REQUIREMENTS
4-year degree in building construction, engineering, or construction related field.
7-10 years related estimating experience
Advanced project estimator skills that include performing value engineering calculations, being conversant in engineering nomenclature to effectively communicate with Application Engineers, Product Managers, Project Managers, Engineering and vendors

Maintain estimating logs and unit costs for all projects.
Perform site surveys and attend pre-bid walkthroughs as required.
Comply with all Controlled Air operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.
Supervisory Responsibility: None Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent related experience in those fields.
5 + years of estimating experience in the HVAC industry with a proven track record is required.
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, operations, and industry best practices.
Proficient with QuickPen Trimble AutoBid software.
Excellent understanding of local codes and regulations.
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills, deadline and detail-oriented
Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel)
Familiarity with project management/document control software.
Familiarity with construction/financial software packages.
Experienced with electrical estimating and combined heat power (CHP) a plus.
