Quantum Algorithms Researcher (Chemistry/Materials Science)
Remote Entomologist Job
Quantum computing holds the promise of humanity's mastery over the natural world, but only if we can build a
real
quantum computer. PsiQuantum is on a mission to build the first real, useful quantum computers, capable of delivering the world-changing applications that the technology has long promised. We know that means we will need to build a system with roughly 1 million qubits that supports fault tolerant error correction within a scalable architecture, and a data center footprint.
By harnessing the laws of quantum physics, quantum computers can provide exponential performance increases over today's most powerful supercomputers, offering the potential for extraordinary advances across a broad range of industries including climate, energy, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, finance, agriculture, transportation, materials design, and many more.
PsiQuantum has determined the fastest path to delivering a useful quantum computer, years earlier than the rest of the industry. Our architecture is based on silicon photonics which gives us the ability to produce our components at Tier-1 semiconductor fabs such as GlobalFoundries where we leverage high-volume semiconductor manufacturing processes, the same processes that are already producing billions of chips for telecom and consumer electronics applications. We also benefit from the quantum mechanics reality that photons don't feel heat or electromagnetic interference, allowing us to take advantage of existing cryogenic cooling systems and industry standard fiber connectivity.
In 2024, PsiQuantum announced two government-funded projects to support the build-out of our first Quantum Data Centers and utility-scale quantum computers in Brisbane, Australia and Chicago, Illinois. Both projects are backed by nations that understand quantum computing's potential impact and the need to scale this technology to unlock that potential. Personal Characteristics
Researcher (Specializing in AI Safety)
Remote Entomologist Job
About Us The Future of Life Foundation (FLF) is a new organization, affiliated with the Future of Life Institute, whose mission is to steer transformative technology towards benefiting life and away from extreme large-scale risks. 1. Our primary plan for doing so is to work to identify gaps in the landscape of efforts to fulfill this mission, and to then determine what new organizations should exist to address these challenges. Once identified, we will recruit, fund, and provide significant support to founders who demonstrate that they can bring these organizations to life.
Our tentative plan is to help create an average of ~3-5 new organizations per year over the next 5 years, providing each with significant operational support and, if recruited founders' further develop our research into a compelling proposal, substantial runway.
2. There are other activities that FLF may take on, such as some possibilities for coordination and planning amongst organizations in our field and incubating promising founders. As a new organization, we're unsure just how narrow or expansive we'll find our scope of activities to be.
We expect our most significant focus to be on the risks posed by transformative AI, and governance mechanisms needed to ensure that AI is beneficial to humanity. Other areas of work could include biosecurity, nuclear technology, other risks to humanity's existence or fulfillment of its potential, and the development of tools, institutions, and communities that support these efforts.
About the Role
We are seeking to hire an exceptional researcher specializing in AI safety to help kick off these efforts. In this position, you will play a foundational role in determining what organizations FLF seeks to help create.
We expect to collaboratively determine what research best furthers our mission. You'll play a fundamental part in this, so your experience working in this position will be largely dependent on your take on the relevant topics, as well as your particular interest and ability.
You will initially have both a broad, open remit, as well as specific research direction. We have a preliminary list of ideas for organizations that we feel positively about that require significant further investigation, and we also have a great need to identify and investigate additional potential initiatives. We do believe in short timelines, so we're hoping to make progress toward our goals at a rapid pace.
We plan to approach hiring with an open-mind with regard to how candidates' interests and background could fit with our work. While we're looking for candidates who can be effective when researching across the gamut of AI safety, we encourage those who have more specialized expertise or interest to apply as well.
Activities
- Conduct comprehensive research on the current AI safety landscape
- Identify gaps and potential areas where new organizations can make a significant impact
- Investigate ideas for feasibility, identifying crucial considerations and downside risks
- Engage with AI safety experts, stakeholders, and the broader community to gather insights and feedback
- Analyze the likely impact of proposed organizations toward addressing safety concerns
- Select organizations that we should move forward with, and evaluate potential founders' proposals for fulfilling the intended vision
- (possibly) Contribute to the recruitment and selection of suitable founders for new organizations
- (possibly) Provide ongoing guidance, mentorship, and support to founders during the early stages of their organizations
- (possibly) Contribute to or lead research in other FLF cause areas
Likely Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise and strong judgment with regard to risks from AI
- Proven ability to perform high-quality research, preferably in AI, existential risk, or a related domain
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Passion for helping to further AI safety
Additional Possible Qualifications
- Significant research achievement demonstrated by publications in top-tier conferences and journals coupled with years of pertinent academic experience
- A PhD in computer science or a closely related field
- A track-record of impactful grantmaking
- Experience with the founding of new organizations
- History of performing technical research beyond AI safety
- A particularly strong technical background
Logistics
You will be an employee of the Future of Life Foundation, or our affiliated organization, the Future of Life Institute. Each are 501(c)(3) research non-profits.
- Compensation and Benefits: Compensation is competitive with Bay Area tech roles (excluding equity), plus full benefits.
- Location: We prefer people who are available to work 2-3 days per week in-person (in Campbell, CA), but will consider remote candidates. We should be able to sponsor visas (without going through the visa lottery) for those who need them.
- Applying for both research roles: If interested in our Researcher (General) position as well, you'll be able to indicate that in your application. Please submit the application for the role you have strongest interest in. We may modify role definitions and activities when applicable to better suit the talent that we hire.
Miscellaneous
This role is now open on a rolling basis without a deadline, but we are actively assessing candidates that have already applied and may close the role at any time (potentially not evaluating the more recent applications).
We encourage you to apply even if your background may not seem like a great fit! We would rather review a larger pool of applications than risk missing out on a promising candidate for the position.
If you have any questions about the role, please do get in touch at *******************.
We are committed to diversity and equal opportunity in all aspects of our hiring process. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. We welcome and encourage all qualified candidates to apply for our open positions.
Blockchain Researcher
Remote Entomologist Job
Work with the best
We are Orderly, the ultimate destination for decentralized trading platforms. We are not satisfied with the limitations of centralized exchanges or the complexities of building decentralized order books. We aim to make trading easy, fast, and secure for everyone. How? By fusing the simplicity of CeFi with the power of DeFi.
At the heart of the issue lies “liquidity”. Builders often grapple with a paradox; traders need liquidity, but liquidity demands traders. Our solution is simple as is bold -concentrate all liquidity into one order book. One order book that connects all the liquidity in the crypto space.
Our ambition doesn't stop there. We're omnichain, championing chain abstraction. We envision seamless transactions, where the underlying blockchain is merely a detail. By concentrating liquidity, we aim to redefine the crypto landscape, making bridging and wrapped assets a thing of the past.
We are Orderly, and we are here to revolutionize DeFi, democratizing access to financial opportunities and fostering a fair, equitable paradigm for all.

Produce weekly market commentary and project updates for the department's ongoing projects.
Produce original valuation & modeling work to help further develop the products/projects in our ecosystem.
Coordinate and edit technical documentation
What tech stacks/skills will you be using?
Demonstrable experience working on a role relating to technical paper writing and research

You are motivated to design new mechanisms and see them through to their deployment in the Ethereum protocol.Interdisciplinary mindset: You excel at the intersection of multiple disciplines and collaborate with experts across fields, drawing insights from economics, computer science, cryptography, distributed systems, and other relevant areas. While you value rigorous research, you are driven by its practical application and the tangible progress it brings to Ethereum.Clear communicator: You revel in peeling back layers and communicating your findings clearly and widely to both technical and non-technical audiences-whether in writing, discussions, or presentations.Research excellence: You have a strong research background, whether in academia or applied research. Ideally, your experience includes economics, distributed systems, cryptography, computer science, mathematics, or related fields. A PhD is welcome but not required if you have a track record of exploring new fields with an interdisciplinary mindset. Passion: You care deeply about harnessing decentralized economic systems and are passionate about solving the types of intellectual challenges Ethereum is facing. You are excited to join a group of research collaborators working in the open to advancing technology.

You will work at the very frontier of blockchain technology and contribute to foundational infrastructure for economic exchange.High trust environment: With minimal hierarchy and a culture of autonomy, you will have many degrees of freedom to define your research agenda to deliver high-impact work. Collaborations: Access to leading collaborators across industry and academia, with the ability to award grants. Compensation & benefits: Competitive compensation, flexible PTO, and possibility to join Protocol Guild after six months, subject to contributing to public participation in Ethereum core protocol research. Remote first: Our team is distributed across the globe and remote work from anywhere is possible-with most synchronous time from 2pm UTC onwards. However, we have offices in Berlin or Boulder, and if suitable we can help to facilitate relocation.Travel: Highly encouraged travel with occasions throughout the year: e.g., conferences, research workshops, offsites. Ample opportunities to share your work with different audiences and whiteboard with your colleagues.
