The Engineering Technician II position is a technical position that involves performing inspections of major and minor infrastructure projects to include the construction of roads, stormwater drainage systems, and transportation elements of potable water and sanitary systems in order to ensure compliance with construction and environmental standards, ordinances, and law. This class works within broad policy and organizational guidelines: reports progress of major activities through construction daily reports and periodic conferences and meetings.
The schedule for this full-time position is Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
Essential Functions
Inspects minor County construction projects to ensure conformity with construction plans and adherence to applicable regulations and specifications.
Drives and/or operates a county vehicle or equipment and must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.
Reviews construction plans and documents, making recommendations for appropriate changes in area of non-compliance.
Performs construction site investigations and maintains daily construction log reports.
Evaluates road conditions.
Investigates and prepares corrective action plan/report on citizen complaints.
Performs data collection tasks such as roadway core boring, survey field data collection, traffic data collection, asset inventory, and other data collection as necessary.
Inputs data into various software programs to update and maintains county asset information.
Measures and confirms all pay items and reviews material list data for conformance.
Maintains files and records systems in paper and electronic format.
Addresses questions by phone, email, or in person.
Attends staff conferences, professional meetings, and other events.
Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
Education, Training, and Experience
High School Graduate/GED equivalent, vocational technical degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of High School.
Experience in the field of Civil Engineering required with specific experience in road construction is preferred.

Valid Florida Driver License or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida.
Requires ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public.
Requires using basic algebra involving variables and formulas, basic geometry involving plane and solid figures, circumferences, areas, and volumes, and computing percentages, ratios, and proportions. Job Summary:
The Engineering Tech creates owner's manuals for our customers along with entering data that is provided to them by our engineering staff into our ERP system. They also assist our engineering department with various duties such as creating part numbers and following up on quotes to vendors. Other administrative and engineering related duties will be given to this individual based upon the workload. These may include detailing of parts in Autodesk Inventor.
The owner's manuals are comprised of text files which may need modification to match the actual machines that were built. In addition, drawing files of the assemblies along with part numbers will be provided by engineering to allow a custom manual to be created. There may be custom text created to explain the operation of the machine, which would be created with the input from engineering and manufacturing.
Set-up sheets of the machines may also need to be created or modified due to a custom or newly designed machine. Set-up sheets will also need to be filled out digitally by entering the information from a hand-written version by the technician who tested the machine.
The Engineering Tech is expected to be able to critically evaluate the manuals to ensure that the correct information is provided to the customer as well as adequate information to properly set up and operate the machines it covers. With the ERP system, it is critically important to input the correct data accurately to ensure the proper items are ordered for the project.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
