These solutions will enable actionable data-driven insights into production and aftermarket processes for BW and its customers. BW's Industrial IoT stack spans a wide range of modern technologies including edge computing infrastructure and applications, cloud-native data processing & persistence services in Azure, and extensible web applications for business intelligence. Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions): Plan, design, code, debug, deploy, performance tune, and document sustainable data analytics solutions that support and accelerate BW's Digital Products and Services initiatives. Developing and maintaining production business intelligence systems - including bug fixes, troubleshooting, and monitoring dataset health by setting up metrics and alarms. Ensure solutions meet industry best practices in security, privacy, and retention requirements. Ensure adherence to software development & change management best practices that maintain a stable, scalable, and high performing production environment. Bring business needs and customer use cases from concept to production and iterate value-adding continuous improvements and new features to solution capabilities. Assist business users with guidelines, framework, and best practices for: efficient & timely access to equipment telemetry data; developing models, algorithms and/or analytics accelerators leveraging visualization, data exploration, analytics and modeling toolsets. Capture backlog items and perform estimations with the team. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with project team members. Job Specifications: Experience with modern software development & data engineering best practices. Experience with a modern programming language (Python preferred) with a particular emphasis on data engineering, data science, or back-end cloud-native application development. Familiarity with major cloud hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP) stack. Experience with data visualization tools and/or libraries (e.g., Power BI, Apache Superset, Matplotlib). Familiarity with building data pipelines and relational data models. Familiarity with IoT, distributed systems, and event-driven systems. Conceptual understanding of deployment pipelines, CI/ CD and testing automation. Strong exploratory data analysis ability and numeric / probabilistic intuition. Experience working with databases (relational, NoSQL, time-series) and fluency with any flavor of SQL. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate, analyze, and disseminate information with diligence and accuracy. An ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and influence a technical audience. Strong written and oral communication including ability to write technical documents explaining implementation details and other technical decisions within a development team. Ability to exhibit a high level of responsibility, initiative, accountability, and work autonomously. Education and Experience: Currently achieving a bachelor's degree in computer science, STEM, or related field. Strong understanding of ETL/ELT, database design & architecture, and SQL / non-relational databases. Familiarity with modern containerization of applications, DevOps concepts, and automated cloud deployment tooling. Familiarity with agile/scrum concepts. Prior experience with the manufacturing industry is preferred. Familiarity with developing and interfacing with REST APIs, modern web frameworks, and understanding of modern software design patterns is ideal. Prior internship or relevant working experience preferred. Supervisory/Responsibility: The team member is an individual contributor w/no direct reports. Work Environment: This is an office position at a major USA BW location. The employee must be able to correctly wear and use any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required by the employer when visiting a manufacturing facility. Position Type: This is a temporary, full-time internship position with the understanding that a regular workweek may require extended days and hours as needed to meet business needs. Travel: Occasional travel may be required for this position up to 10%. Physical Demands: The employee sits at a desk and uses a computer for prolonged periods of time. Performing the role frequently uses close vision, speech, hearing, and dexterity to operate office equipment. The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
