About This Role
Fall internships will range between the months of September and January. All dates dependent upon the university schedule of the selected students. Internships are full-time and on-site in Los Angeles, CA.

Internship - Fuel Performance Modeling Engineer
Radiant is seeking a highly motivated Fuel Performance Modeling Intern for Summer 2025. Under the software team, you will provide modeling and simulation support to the materials team along with ensuring the seamless integration of software solutions into material research and analysis. You will develop and refine TRISO fuel performance models using the BISON code for neutron irradiation experiments. You will directly contribute to advancing our nuclear fuel reliability through predicting probabilistic failure mechanisms. You'll learn from a direct mentor, cross-functional teammates, and have a tangible impact on improving Kaleidos' fuel performance assessments that will enable Kaleidos' successful entrance into the market.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Own the fuel performance modeling of the RAFT irradiation experiment.
Develop BISON TRISO fuel performance models, executing BISON fuel performance models, and post-processing the results to feed a reduced order model of TRISO failure.
Create and document predictions for observables of the RAFT experiment, including but not limited to prediction of radionuclide release rates as a function of time.
Assess output uncertainties of the BISON fuel performance model.
Present a final project review at the end of internship to engineers and leadership.

About This Role
Fall internships will range between the months of September and January. All dates dependent upon the university schedule of the selected students. Internships are full-time and on-site in Los Angeles, CA.
The GNC team is responsible for the the design, analysis, simulation and operation of reentry vehicles at Varda Space Industries. For this role, you'll be part of performing end to end analyses and validations for the navigation, trajectories and flight to enable the precision targeting and reentry capability for next generation manufacturing reentry vehicles.

Responsibilities
As part of the GNC team, own or contribute to analysis, algorithms and simulations for reentry vehicles
Own Integration and testing of GNC sensors, actuators and software in simulation and hardware in the loop environments
Design and implement mission critical tooling needed to facilitate automated maneuver responsibility and scheduling decisions
Design and implementation of autonomous satellite attitude control, collision avoidance, orbital rendezvous, burn planning and atmospheric re-entry algorithms
Perform trajectory design, optimization, and dispersion analysis for the reentry of a space capsule
Basic Qualifications
