Description
As a member of our fast-paced group, you'll have the unique and rewarding opportunity to shape upcoming products from Apple. We are looking for people with excellent applied machine learning experience and solid engineering skills in creating outstanding question answering service search and NLP services. This role will have the following responsibilities:
Analyzing search ranking and relevance requirements, issues and opportunities.
Developing, fine-tuning, and evaluating domain-specific Large Language Models for various tasks and applications in Apple's AI-powered products.
Conducting applied research to transfer the cutting-edge research in generative AI to production-ready technologies.
Understanding product requirements, translating them into modeling tasks and engineering tasks.
Building machine-learned models for question answering, search relevance, ranking, and query understanding problems.
Integrating search functions into Apple products, such as Siri, Spotlight, Safari, Messages, Lookup, etc.
Building end-to-end production systems including query understanding and ranking to power search and open domain question answering.
Utilizing Spark, Hadoop MapReduce, Hive, Impala to perform distributed data processing.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience in machine learning, deep learning, LLM fine-tuning, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), information retrieval, natural language processing.
Experience of prompt engineering, fine-tuning, evaluating, and developing data collection/annotation/management tooling for LLMs.
Proficiency in Python and at least one of the following languages: Go, Java, C++.
Proficiency in PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX for training and deploying deep learning models.
Excellent data analytical skills.
Good interpersonal skills and team player.
BS or MS in Computer Science or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Large Scale Data-Mining.
Experience with ML and LLM model inference optimization.
PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Information Retrieval, Data Science, or related field.
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $166,600 and $296,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

About the Position
The Engineering Intern adeptly manages multiple engineering efforts on projects in varying stages of planning, design, and construction. Engineering Internship Job In Tacoma, WA
This internship will have the unique opportunity to gain experience within several environmental focus areas including habitat restoration, water quality, clean air and climate, remediation and resiliency planning.
The intern will perform a variety of duties that include, but are not limited to, stewardship maintenance activities at the Port's habitat mitigation sites, updating GIS data, reviewing grant applications and environmental projects, supporting community engagement, conducting research and data entry.
Additionally, the intern will gain an understanding of compensatory mitigation including how to calculate mitigation costs, permitting and habitat construction and initiatives to clean up contaminated land, improve water quality and reduce emissions. The position will have the opportunity to participate in community engagement efforts for the Clean Air Implementation Plan update and at other community events.
This internship is expected to start on or around June 1st for up to 3 months.
Hours will be Monday-Friday, 40 hours a week between 8 am and 5 pm.
Essential Functions
Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited school, college or university. Coursework and interest in environmental studies, and related fields is preferred.
Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Office software applications. Strong oral and written communication skills. Intern will be working outdoors and should be comfortable working in inclement weather and walking over uneven terrain.

Job Summary:
The Protein Engineering group utilizes directed evolution display technologies to identify novel therapeutic proteins to modulate immune response. The successful candidate will apply molecular biology techniques to build and screen large protein libraries. In addition, they will become familiar with insilico protein modelling and design applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical skills that will be acquired include:
Basic molecular biology competency including primer design, PCR, Gibson assembly, and sequence analysis
Recombinant protein expression via transient transfection and purification
Viral vector design and production
Immunoassays- ELISA, reporter cell lines, primary immune cell coculture
Database entry and protein request queue tracking
Lab operations support
Though a specific project has yet to be crystallized, the intern will work on their own project focused on technology development while also shadowing the supervisor and contributing to multiple therapeutic discovery stage Vertex projects. These discovery stage projects will involve participation on multidisciplinary project teams composed of immunologists, biochemists and structural biologists.
The candidate will interact closely with several members of our teams such as specialists in stem cells differentiation, screening, genetic integrity and epigenetics.

About the Role
The Field Engineer intern summer '25 is responsible for providing assistance to more senior staff (Senior Project Engineer, Project Managers and Superintendents) in the coordination, scheduling, quantity surveying, reporting, and quality control functions of a project. * Maintain QA/QC and Safety records
