Responsibilities * Furnish all departments with various engineering documents including, but not limited to: Bills of Materials, manufacturing drawings, engineering specification sheets, product nametag information, part information, engineering change orders, and estimate sheets. * Maintain necessary data files and control systems for these documents and vendor quotes. * Assign and control part numbering system for new and revised items to be introduced into the system. * Coordinate the implementation of engineering changes with other departments. * Provide necessary information in the product structure as obtained from the engineers, manufacturing group, and/or from the engineering data system for items to be structured. * Provide necessary information to the Purchasing Department for material and parts procurement from vendors. * Prepare estimates and prototypes of products as required, as well as assist in coordinating the procurement of said prototypes. * Check drawings for errors and take corrective action accordingly. * Assist in developing manufacturing methods to reduce costs, standardize, and improve products; make recommendations for manufacturing improvements where observed, performing time studies as appropriate. * Perform engineering and sales product research projects as assigned and approved by the Engineering Manufacturing Supervisor. * Assist the design and manufacturing engineers in achieving the objectives of the department and corporation to produce quality products in a timely manner at the lowest possible cost. * Set up and operate 3D printers, order 3D printing supplies, and work with Engineers and Drafting on prototype and production of 3D printed parts. * Contact vendors for product development and cost reduction opportunities with recommendations to Engineering and Purchasing as appropriate.
