We have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a civil engineer with 0 to 3 years' experience. This position seeks a person with high attention to detail who can assist our team with the successful completion of projects. You will provide engineering support on University, National Parks, County Parks, Shorelines, and Marine Civil Engineering projects. AMI staff love what we do and feel fortunate to be able to add additional staff to our team.
Along with more traditional engineering projects the position will include support of 3rd party testing services of ballast water management system designed to kill or remove organisms from the ballast water of ships to reduce the risk of ship transmitted invasive species. This work is performed at a facility owned and managed by the University of Wisconsin Superior and aboard ships throughout the Great Lakes.
The ideal candidate should possess excellent written and oral communication skills, with impeccable follow through while taking ownership in each project assigned. Travel and field work may be required to complete projects. The successful candidate will gain experience in serving the engineering needs of clients by providing exceptional professional service. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Engineering support for integrating treatment systems into the facility
Operating the facility or treatment system during a land-based test.
Boarding ships and operating the sample system for biological sampling.
Work with senior engineers to perform basic engineering calculations.
Assist with drafting and revisions to drawings as needed.
Assist with field surveys both on land and on water.
Oversight during the term of construction projects, including onsite inspections to determine if completed work is in conformance with plans and specifications.
Author well written and organized technical reports, weekly project management reports and client letters.
Review contractor submittals during construction for conformance to construction document requirements.

This position will help fill a specific need to assist with the Department's lead water service replacement program. Particularly useful skills valued by this program would be; competency with ESRI GIS and Adobe or Bluebeam PDF editing software, a background drafting civil plans with AutoCAD 3D, two or more years of experience inspecting the construction of water distribution systems, excellent customer communication skills, and the ability to assume a leadership role while coordinating construction activities.

Minimum Qualifications
