Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans, manages, executes, and reports on analysis, design, and testing aspects for Compotech's various programs.
Reviews processing methods and materials and develops and recommends improvements.
Participates in providing weekly, quarterly, and monthly progress reports to the program manager as well as to clients and sponsors.
Writes technical reports and papers detailing research and development activities for clients, and sponsors.
Monitors program budget and recommends allocation of dollars accordingly.
Researches, recommends, and determines specifications for purchase of equipment, materials, and supplies for use in research projects.
Identifies and interacts with various vendors and manufacturers.
May occasionally travel to job sites for support of training on systems, technical presentations, or testing events.
Requirements:
B.S. in related Engineering field (mechanical or structural focus). M.S. is a plus.
Experience and/or coursework in some of the following areas: composite analysis, finite element modeling, engineering design, advanced mechanics of materials.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and constant deadlines.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment with Compotech's team of, engineers, technicians, interns, and contractors.
Excellent 3D computer aided design (CAD) skills using SolidWorks .
Experience with complex assemblies, multi-body parts, drawings, and equations.
Experience in conceptual design and design modifications to meet budgetary constraints.
Experience with design, integration, and management of complex systems.
Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) practices and processes.
Experience with design of composite structures and materials.
5+ (III) to 10+ (IV) years of relevant experience.

Experience in carrying out static and dynamic laboratory load tests of composites.
Experience with computer aided machining (CAM) design and principles.

Job Summary
The Non-Wires Alternative Lead Engineer is responsible for leading and working collaboratively on the development, analysis, implementation, maintenance, evaluation, measurement, and verification (EM&V) of distributed energy resources (DER) which are part of the Non-Wires Alternatives (NWA) in Maine. This position also leads the advancement of other key clean energy initiatives, as appropriate, such as utility thermal energy networks. Specifically, this position will be responsible for:
Apply the established distribution criteria and uses sounds utility engineering practices to identify deficiencies in the distribution system.
Work closely with the Distribution and Transmission Planning teams to investigate, configure scenarios and run models that can help to identify NWA technologies to address system needs.
Identify NWA opportunities through the application of suitable criteria to planned capital projects.
Perform engineering analyses of distribution system needs and technical review of NWA proposals. Complete distribution system reliability studies, contingency plans, review capital budget project proposals, prepare net present value economic analyses and/or Benefit Cost Analysis (BCA) modeling, and determine correction of circuit electrical operating deficiencies.
Review Benefit Cost Analysis (BCA) evaluations on potential NWA projects performed by the team.
Support NWA contract negotiations and EM&V requirements.
Oversee the development of NWA opportunities and associated sourcing process including Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
Managing budgeting, forecasting, and reporting requirements for the NWA programs.
Acting as the intermediary between the NWA team and other internal groups regarding progressing NWA projects towards contract execution and implementation.
Establishing and maintaining positive internal and external stakeholder relationships including those with regulators.
Assist during storm restoration efforts.

Professional Engineer (PE) with knowledge and experience in the maintenance, inspection, and repair of piping systems and storage tanks. This position prepares integrity and inspection reports, plus collaborates with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to evaluate storage tanks and piping systems and provide repair designs.
This position requires travel (domestic and international) of up to 50%.
This position may have the opportunity to manage projects, to include client interaction, review and conformance to contract obligations, and guidance to the assigned project team.
Responsibilities:
Performs engineering duties applying standard techniques and procedures.
Produces technical reports, written technical specifications, engineering calculations, and cost estimates.
Serves as Site Manager or Lead Inspector of inspection activities, production of inspection and integrity reports, and determination of remaining life and fitness for-service of inspected components.
Performs project site inspections and data collection, with minimal supervision, providing field notes and sketches in sufficient detail to develop inspection reports and integrity management plans and for CAD drafters to produce engineering drawings.
Performs non-destructive examinations under minimal supervision as a Level II Non-Destructive Examiner for Ultrasonic Testing at a minimum (additional certifications preferred).
Obtains technical certifications relevant to inspection and mechanical integrity of fuel systems.
Support project management tasks as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum.
Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience required. Or a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience required with master's degree in engineering.
Ability to obtain U.S. military base access through completion of a comprehensive background check.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Willing and able to independently travel periodically to project locations, domestic and international.

Required Skills
* Strong Java language knowledge is required.
* Spring Framework and Spring Boot is a must.
* Strong knowledge of SQL. Oracle is a plus.
* Candidate should be comfortable working in Linux and know basics of shell scripting and working in terminal.
These are nice to have:
* Knowledge of Apache Kafka can be beneficial.
* Previous background with AWS or any other cloud provider.
* Familiar with Terraform
Required Experience
Candidates for this position should hold the following qualifications, have the following experience, and be able to demonstrate the following competencies to be considered as a suitable applicant. Please note that except where specified as "preferred," or as a "plus," all points listed below are considered minimum requirements.
* Graduate Degree in a related discipline is strongly preferred
* Has 7-10 years' relevant technical experience
* Demonstrable abilities to effectively drive projects from conception through to successful completion
