Required skills:

Key Responsibilities:
HISA has an opening for a Project Engineer to work on some of the many interesting construction projects in New York City. Our structural alteration and demolition engineers focus on existing buildings that are going through a change of use or demolition that requires engineering. When NYC landmarks like the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Flatiron Building or TSX Broadway were going through a conversion, our engineers worked closely with the project construction teams to implement major structural modifications and design temporary shoring and bracing to stabilize the existing structure. We also specialize in the demolition of major buildings, such as the former JP Morgan headquarters and Brooklyn Jail.
This position has room for expanding responsibility and professional growth as expertise is developed through on-the-job training. Prior experience is preferable, but not required.
Responsibilities:
Design and development of construction and demolition documents for a wide variety of projects.
Analysis of construction materials and systems, both historic and contemporary.
Design of temporary construction including shoring and bracing.
Apply various building codes, historic and modern.
Apply knowledge of equipment and methods used in demolition, construction and structural stabilization.
Finite element modeling of new and existing structures.
Perform drafting assignments using AutoCAD.
