We work to set people up for sustained stability outside of our ATU by connecting people with community resources, including outpatient psychiatric and behavioral healthcare. Nurses play an integral role in developing therapeutic rapport; advocating for best treatment plans; assessing for changes and responses to medications; managing stable, chronic conditions; attending to common medical concerns (ATUs are not equipped to manage major or unstable medical conditions; patients must be independent in completing ADLs); and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary team.
