Healthcare is delivered in accordance with approved medical protocols and in compliance with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) directives. Vighter's HCPs work alongside uniformed CBP Agents/Officers at numerous locations near the border in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, and Florida. The medical staff must be capable of providing health care services for persons of all ages, to include infants, children, adults, and pregnant females. Candidates must be comfortable working in a detention setting. Services may be provided in a field setting with minimal facilities, a soft-sided (tent-type) facility, or a secure detention facility, such as a US Border Patrol Station. Education, Licensure/Certification & Experience: Must have a minimum of one year of experience in direct patient care as a licensed/certified EMT. The degree issuing institution and/or program must be accredited by an entity recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Must have a current, active, valid, unencumbered license/registration/certification to practice healthcare in the state in which the candidate will work. License/registration/certification must not have been withheld, suspended, revoked, denied, surrendered, or lapsed due to an investigation. Must possess a current valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from one of the following approved organizations: American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for health care providers, AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, American Red Cross CPB/BLS for the professional rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) CPR and AED for healthcare providers and professional responders. Performs medical history and physical assessment; determines chief complaint. Performs vital signs electronically and manually, as indicated. Apply professional principles, procedures, and techniques for patient care. Initiates and maintains compliance with DHS and CBP policies and any overriding accreditation standards that may apply. Works within licensure/certification, Scope of Practice, and Guidelines as provided by CBP contracted employer and the certifying authority or agency. Maintains compliance with standard operating procedures and protocols. Performs record keeping functions in accordance with program policies and the system of records management. Maintains non-involvement in the security aspect of patient care and custody. Attends general staff meetings and participates with medical quality management initiatives and reviews as applicable. Assures a safe and clean working environment and assists in the disposal of biologically hazardous waste on a regular basis. Assists with medical appointments, medical/mental health emergencies, documenting all care provided, orders received, and/or any referrals made. Ensures any medical orders received or standing orders are implemented. Coordinates healthcare needs of the patient with other staff members or custody as needed, to include referrals to offsite care. Performs record keeping functions in accordance with records management policy, basic records management training, and program policies. Maintains privacy and confidentiality of all patient care. Performs head to toe assessment, documenting findings, and completing any needed treatments within the scope of practice. Refers any urgent needs to a higher level of care if needed. Restocks supplies as needed, assists with maintaining inventory, maintains equipment in proper working order, to include any manufacturer recommended preventative maintenance. Participates with general staff meetings during normal duty hours. Coordinates referrals to offsite facilities, performs emergency care if needed. Communicates an end of shift report to the oncoming shift. Participates in Medical Quality Management/Quality Assurance/Risk Management activities or initiatives as needed. Functional proficiency and ability to document patient-centered health care in the required electronic health record or electronic medical record, in the required format, in a timely manner, and in compliance with contract policy and guidance. Duty Hours / On-call Requirements: The CBP mission runs 24/7/365 to protect our country and as such shift schedules for HCPs include: day, night, weekday, weekend, and holidays. Travel: This is not a travel position so candidates can be expected to work at alternate worksites within 50 miles of their permanent residence. Healthcare is delivered in accordance with approved medical protocols and in compliance with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) directives. Vighter's HCPs work alongside uniformed CBP Agents/Officers at numerous locations near the border in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, and Florida. The medical staff must be capable of providing health care services for persons of all ages, to include infants, children, adults, and pregnant females. Candidates must be comfortable working in a detention setting. Services may be provided in a field setting with minimal facilities, a soft-sided (tent-type) facility, or a secure detention facility, such as a US Border Patrol Station. Education, Licensure/Certification & Experience: Must have a minimum of one year of experience in direct patient care as a licensed/certified Paramedic. Successful completion of a US-based training program leading to licensure/certification as a Paramedic (EMT-P). The degree issuing institution and/or program must be accredited by an entity recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Must have a current, active, valid, unencumbered license/registration/certification to practice healthcare in the state in which the candidate will work. License/registration/certification must not have been withheld, suspended, revoked, denied, surrendered, or lapsed due to an investigation. Must possess a current valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from one of the following approved organizations: American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for health care providers, AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, American Red Cross CPB/BLS for the professional rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) CPR and AED for healthcare providers and professional responders. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Provides emergency care to help stabilize employees or visitors for life, death, loss of sight/limb situations until Emergency Medical Services arrives. Performs medical history and physical assessment; determines chief complaint. Performs vital signs electronically and manually, as indicated. Apply professional principles, procedures, and techniques for patient care. Initiates and maintains compliance with DHS and CBP policies and any overriding accreditation standards that may apply. Works within licensure/certification, Scope of Practice, and Guidelines as provided by CBP contracted employer and the certifying authority or agency. Maintains compliance with standard operating procedures and protocols. Performs record keeping functions in accordance with program policies and the system of records management. Maintains non-involvement in the security aspect of patient care and custody. Attends general staff meetings and participates with medical quality management initiatives and reviews as applicable. Assures a safe and clean working environment and assists in the disposal of biologically hazardous waste on a regular basis. Assists with medical appointments, medical/mental health emergencies, documenting all care provided, orders received, and/or any referrals made. Ensures any medical orders received or standing orders are implemented. Coordinates healthcare needs of the patient with other staff members or custody as needed, to include referrals to offsite care. Performs record keeping functions in accordance with records management policy, basic records management training, and program policies. Maintains privacy and confidentiality of all patient care. Performs head to toe assessment, documenting findings, and completing any needed treatments within the scope of practice. Refers any urgent needs to a higher level of care if needed. Restocks supplies as needed, assists with maintaining inventory, maintains equipment in proper working order, to include any manufacturer recommended preventative maintenance. Participates with general staff meetings during normal duty hours. Coordinates referrals to offsite facilities, performs emergency care if needed. Communicates an end of shift report to the oncoming shift. Participates in Medical Quality Management/Quality Assurance/Risk Management activities or initiatives as needed. Functional proficiency and ability to document patient-centered health care in the required electronic health record or electronic medical record, in the required format, in a timely manner, and in compliance with contract policy and guidance. Duty Hours / On-call Requirements: The CBP mission runs 24/7/365 to protect our country and as such shift schedules for HCPs include: day, night, weekday, weekend, and holidays. We will work to accommodate desired shifts with locally hired employees, but there may be times where coverage is needed to meet contractual requirements. Travel: This is not a travel position so candidates can be expected to work at alternate worksites within 50 miles of their permanent residence.
