Position Overview

The primary responsibility of the Director, Emerging Technologies is the evaluation of operations and maintenance aspects of technologies new to the Invenergy fleet. This position works closely with the Development, Asset Management, and Origination to identify the financial, technical, and human resources necessary to maintain and operate facilities and projects for the long term as well as for pilot/test periods. The position is part of the Site Operations organization and is located in Invenergy's Chicago office.

Responsibilities

+ Collaborate with internal and external resources to identify operations and maintenance activities associated with new technology.

+ Evaluate new generation technologies for use in existing generation sites to improve operational performance in changing/evolving markets.

+ Participate in discussions with internal and external stakeholders to support analysis of emerging technologies.

+ Evaluate new/emerging technologies for use; develop and maintain knowledge of new idea in the industry and academia.

+ Develop and maintain documentation summarizing operations and maintenance requirements for emerging technologies.

Required Skills

+ Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical engineering preferred, other disciplines considered. Work experience may be considered as a substitute for the degree.

Citi's Anti-Money Laundering (AML) organization aims to protect our clients, our franchise and the financial system from being used to facilitate money laundering and terrorist financing through a robust, globally consistent program focused on the prevention, detection and reporting of AML risks which complies with applicable AML laws and regulations.

Role

The Global AML Head of Integration and Emerging Trends reports to Citi's AML Chief Compliance Officer (CCO)/Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Officer. As a senior leader in AML, this role is responsible for overseeing all AML regulatory reporting, including the quality and consistency of Suspicious Activity Reporting and Currency Transaction Reporting and identifying, analyzing and reporting on the typologies and trends present in the behaviors of our clients globally. This leader will be responsible for overseeing all channels through which investigations and the filing of suspicious activity reports occur, including the AML Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), Global Financial Crimes Investigations and Intelligence (GFCII), Citi Security and Investigative Services (CSIS) and Fraud . They will also be responsible for ensuring the feedback-loop of information to other areas - with the goal of preventing future criminal activity.

The role will manage a team of compliance professionals that provides oversight of multiple teams and assesses their operating effectiveness across standards, procedures, training, quality assurance, testing, monitoring, issue management., and productivity.

This second line of defense function provides oversight through an appropriate controls and escalation framework and works collaboratively with the first and third lines of defense to execute the AML program effectively.

The role is responsible for assessing, directly or via covered teams, complex issues, structuring potential solutions and driving to effective resolution with senior stakeholders. The role engages with respective teams across Citi's clients, products and geographies, providing direction and guidance on the program.

The role requires an ability to demonstrate “credible challenge” - challenging management, escalating issues and pressing for change where appropriate.

The role is global in nature, and requires knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment for AML, a strong background in the core components of AML programs for large financial institutions, and the ability to manage a team of experienced AML professionals to manage and enhance AML risk management.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop standards and streamline procedures for the investigations and SAR filing teams
  • Serve as an escalation point across functions and ensure sufficient SAR filing information is shared with senior management and the Board on an ongoing basis
  • Create ongoing metrics on SAR filing activity, including but not limited to trends related to products, client types, payment mechanisms and geographies
  • Develop materials to be presented at senior governance committees
  • Stay informed on emerging trends and typologies and report updates on a regular basis
  • Develop methodology and perform periodic testing on the quality of SARs, filing decisions and timeliness across functions
  • Execute feedback loop process and perform credible challenge across the SAR filing units
  • Socialize testing results at relevant management committees and track issues and corrective actions as necessary - Align existing self-testing processes (i.e., MCA ) across functions - Serve as point of contact for audits/exams
  • Manage the requirements, governance and oversight related to AML transactional regulatory reporting in alignment with the firm's AML Regulatory Transaction Reporting Standard .
  • Develop and manage an oversight framework to oversee the effectiveness of investigative and filing activities across the FIU, GFCII, FIU, CSIS and Fraud including feedback loop process
  • Assess the operating effectiveness of the FIU, GFCII, FIU, CSIS and Fraud across standards, procedures, training, quality assurance, testing, monitoring, issue management, and productivity
  • Hold relevant teams accountable to manage risks associated with the end-to-end referral and escalation flow.
  • Serve as a key risk management thought leader for Citi for AML matters related to the investigations process globally.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of products, services and geographies to identify AML risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Demonstrate “credible challenge” as necessary.
  • Challenge management, escalate issues and press for change while highlighting and emphasizing the role as the second line of defense.
  • Review, address and escalate significant AML/Sanctions issues and activities to senior management, directly or via in-scope teams.

Qualifications:

**Overall purpose**

Corporate finance professional supporting GCIB Corporate lending business principally focused on leveraged, non-investment grade and Mid-Corp Clients. Responsible for overall credit management of the GCIB NA Technology, Media & Telecom (TMT) vertical, including legal and compliance aspects, utilizing solid credit, analytical, and managerial/process management skills. Provide continuous oversight of the portfolio, monitoring for potential upgrades, downgrades, incremental business opportunities and credit deterioration with the goal of maximizing net income and reducing credit costs. Direct oversight of a group of Portfolio Managers and support staff working closely with other PM MD's and Directors.

**Major Responsibilities:**

**Advanced Credit/Underwriting Solutions:**

+ Provide oversight to PM / GRM Deal Teams for TMT transactions (including Syndications, MUSA, GMDA and CDA), following the development and analyses of financing structures/strategies to support/identify M&A and Corporate re-capitalization opportunities

+ Oversee the prescreening of proposed transactions to identify critical structural issues and risks

+ Review the recommendations of Portfolio Managers as to underwriting and hold levels for proposed transactions to ensure alignment of risk strategy and policy

+ Provide required support to GRM on a "portfolio level" to assist in the selection of assets which will meet performance targets and fit the portfolio balance from a risk and return perspective

+ Attend bank/client meetings as necessary/appropriate.

+ Coordinate with CDA, SFCO or ICD when required to ensure prompt review/approval of transactions

**Portfolio Management:**

+ Responsible for the direct management TMT Team together with oversight of the Vertical's leveraged customer portfolio

+ Responsible for the quality of the due diligence effort of the loan portfolio within policy guidelines.

+ Comprehensive (and most current knowledge) of credit policy

+ In coordination with the MD & Head of PM, advocate on behalf of Corporate Bank as a member of the Portfolio Working Group (PWG)

+ Timely instruction to staff of changes to credit or other bank policies

+ Monitoring performance of due diligence and regularly scheduled evaluation of loan portfolio for which they are responsible

+ Strategic review and preparation support of detailed credit analyses for the most complex transactions and required credit application according to policy including evaluation of corporate and industry risk, historical operating performance, projected operating performance and capital structure

+ Mentor senior team members on managerial issues and instruct junior staff in the practice of credit evaluation techniques, and approach, including the most appropriate financial modeling techniques

+ Responsible for extensive knowledge of country/risk factors on a macro level and informing direct reports of such information

+ Responsible for knowledge of all industries and all current events in portfolio utilizing internal and external sources

+ Extensive knowledge of standard and non-standard bank products including loans, letters of credit, derivatives, foreign exchange, securitization and leasing

+ Special projects as assigned

+ In coordination with the MD & Group Head, responsible for interfacing with internal and external auditors and regulators (i.e., ACR, IAOA, JFSA, FRB and OCC) where appropriate, assuring passing results

+ Responsible for departmental compliance with internal policy and procedural requirements (i.e., ACR, IAOA, LOA and CODA) by fully understanding and ensuring adherence with USCB Operating Procedures, Americas Credit Policies (ACP), Procedures for Credit Ratings and Credit Rules for Overseas Offices

+ Responsible for addressing operational or credit related issues identified through audits and examinations

+ Develops and maintains contacts with industry organizations to keep abreast of industry developments

+ Completion of a formal credit-training program, money center bank preferred

+ Relevant credit and analytical background in non-investment grade lending is a must

+ Excellent written, verbal interpersonal communication skills

+ FINRA Licenses: Existing Series 63, 79 license holders highly preferred; otherwise required within 6 months of start date
