The Infection Control Nurse collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, educates staff on infection prevention and control protocols, and ensures compliance with all infection control requirements. The nurse also conducts surveillance, analyzes infection data, and leads initiatives to reduce hospital-acquired infections (HAIs). All duties are conducted in accordance with federal, state and local regulatory requirements, established policies and procedures, and quality standards. The Healthcare Quality Improvement Specialist will also be responsible for evaluating results from patient satisfaction surveys through our vendor, Press Ganey. Evaluating hospital patient satisfaction surveys is an essential process for identifying areas for improvement in care quality, patient experience, and overall hospital operations. Develops, implements, and coordinates the department's quality improvement program. Oversees department inventory and requisitions supplies and equipment as needed. Participates in organization committee requirements as needed. Establishes and maintains communication within the hospital. Develops relationships with professional affiliations and others as is appropriate. Oversees new treatment procedures and related protocol. Encourages and approves introduction and demonstration of new techniques, equipment, etc. Oversees the maintenance of departmental facilities, equipment, supplies and materials in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort, and safety of patients, visitors, and staff. Reviews Physician's referral (prescription), patient's condition, and medical records as needed to determine the appropriate occupational therapy required. Obtains appropriate patient history, answers patient questions, and explains procedures. Performs O.T. evaluations and all procedures that the department provides under orders from a licensed dentist, podiatrist, or physician. Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit. Oversees all department employee's documentation and prepares own written documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress reports and other such reports. Oversees and performs office filing, record maintenance, and scheduling of appointments for all rehabilitation services as needed. Oversees and participates in patient care review as needed. Oversees departmental and completes own patient discharge planning and discharge paperwork on a timely basis. Oversees and provides educational in-services for the department and hospital as necessary. Oversees the selection, operation, and maintenance of department equipment for efficient operating order; oversees performance of preventative maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis; oversees department equipment service. Oversees departmental staff's and enhances own professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. Perform other such duties, as assigned. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapist program which typically equates to at least 5 years of formal education or training -OR- Bachelor's Degree required Experience: Previous experience as a Director of Rehabilitation or Director of Occupational Therapy preferred. Minimum of three years' experience as an Occupational Therapist required. Skills: Excellent skills in organization, prioritization, and multi-tasking. Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
