The position is engaged in the field of prosthetics and orthotics. A prosthesis replaces a limb that has been amputated. An orthosis supports a limb that does not function well. Our lab designs innovative technologies to enhance prosthetic and orthotics systems, typically through the development of a clinically relevant, innovative sensing modality and its implementation in a closed-loop control system to manage that variable during patient use. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Fabrication + Assistive device fabrication, including scanning, carving, and lamination. + Soldering, Stripping and crimping wires, Insulating exposed electronic components. + Using HTerm to test functionality of electronic components, 3D printing of components. + Creating Polymer Constructs. + Using an industrial sewing machine to sew liners. + Testing signal intensities of targets. + Hand coiling wire. + Alignment of plug terminals and soldering leads. + Fill the negative space within epoxy.Strain Gauge Application + Surface preparation, alignment, bonding, and curing.Purchasing parts + Conducting inventory, Placing orders.Lab Maintenance + Creating Facilities Workorders, Managing Chemical inventory and disposal. **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS** + Three years of experience as an electronics technician, instrument maker, or engineering assistant. Related course work or technical school training may substitute year-for-year for up to two years of work experience.
