A Master Electrician General Foreman is responsible for hands on work and supervisory work, including reviewing plans and specifications, scheduling work, and coordinating resource needs. Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to, the following: Directs and supervises electrical activities to ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code, project specifications, and company safety standards. Carries responsibility for daily electrical duties include but not limited to electrical services, metered services, splicing, LED luminaires, traffic signals, vehicle detection devices, 120-480V, underground and overhead wiring, transformers, CCTV cameras, dynamic message signs, grounding, lightning protection, low voltage wiring, and battery backup systems. Knowledge of communication equipment and fiber optic cable preferred. Establishes goals to complete work satisfactorily while considering scheduling and budget guidelines. Obtains authorization from EH&S Department to give crane hand signals and assists with placement of heavy loads. Demonstrates ability to properly rig materials and equipment through communication with the Operator and mentors others to do the same. Demonstrates a willingness to perform work outside of assigned trade. This position is not exclusive to electrical work only. Additional duties may include rigging, setting structures, trenching and installing conduit and manholes, excavation, hand digging, pouring concrete, bucket truck work, rebar, equipment maintenance, and traffic control. Recommends potential hires, promotes, reprimands and terminates members of the crew in a manner consistent with Company policies/procedures and subject to the approval of the Area Manager and Human Resources. Maintains records/timesheets of field employees and equipment usage for submission in a timely manner according to job requirements. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or five (5) years related experience and /or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. A successful candidate must demonstrate 3 years of supervisory experience. Must possess a Master Electrician License in the State of Maryland or be able to reciprocate a license from another State after hire. Master Electrician license in the State of Virginia is preferred. Must be at least 18 years old, have reliable transportation to work and able to pass a physical. Must be able to pass a Homeland Security background check to qualify for a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC). Must be physically able to frequently visit job sites or potential job sites and to safely traverse the site and/or travel by boat. At times, this may require climbing on structures of various heights and traversing difficult terrain for the purpose of investigating the conditions at the site and/or documenting construction issues, as required.
