McLean is looking to hire an experienced Master Electrician to join our team in the Baltimore, MD area. A Master Electrician General Foreman is responsible for hands on work and supervisory work, including reviewing plans and specifications, scheduling work, and coordinating resource needs. Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to, the following: Directs and supervises electrical activities to ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code, project specifications, and company safety standards. Carries responsibility for daily electrical duties include but not limited to electrical services, metered services, splicing, LED luminaires, traffic signals, vehicle detection devices, 120-480V, underground and overhead wiring, transformers, CCTV cameras, dynamic message signs, grounding, lightning protection, low voltage wiring, and battery backup systems. Knowledge of communication equipment and fiber optic cable preferred. Establishes goals to complete work satisfactorily while considering scheduling and budget guidelines. Obtains authorization from EH&S Department to give crane hand signals and assists with placement of heavy loads. Demonstrates ability to properly rig materials and equipment through communication with the Operator and mentors others to do the same. Demonstrates a willingness to perform work outside of assigned trade. This position is not exclusive to electrical work only. Additional duties may include rigging, setting structures, trenching and installing conduit and manholes, excavation, hand digging, pouring concrete, bucket truck work, rebar, equipment maintenance, and traffic control. Recommends potential hires, promotes, reprimands and terminates members of the crew in a manner consistent with Company policies/procedures and subject to the approval of the Area Manager and Human Resources. Maintains records/timesheets of field employees and equipment usage for submission in a timely manner according to job requirements. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or five (5) years related experience and /or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. A successful candidate must demonstrate 3 years of supervisory experience. Must possess a Master Electrician License in the State of Maryland or be able to reciprocate a license from another State after hire. Master Electrician license in the State of Virginia is preferred. Must be at least 18 years old, have reliable transportation to work and able to pass a physical. About the role The Electrician will inspect, repair and/or replace electrical control circuits, variable speed controllers, plant lighting, and switchgear 120/480 volt. They will troubleshoot and repair electrical component malfunctions on site equipment and perform corrective maintenance on cranes, motors, compactors, fans, etc. This individual will terminate electric motors 4160 volts or lower. Installing conduit and wiring for new installations and repairs to existing installations is required. Reading, interpreting, and utilizing stores catalog and equipment manuals for technical clarification and requisitioning parts and material is required. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform maintenance electrical systems at a transfer station facility. Perform maintenance and testing of low and medium voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, motor starters. Perform electrical maintenance work related to energy from waste boilers and its associated equipment including but not limited to compactors, heavy equipment, fans, motors, & mi-jack cranes. Perform various electrical and electrical maintenance and repair work as assigned using proper Reworld safety practices. Complete plans of electrical wiring for well-functioning electrical systems in an industrial/manufacturing environment. Interpret and create electrical drawings and schematics. Install electrical apparatus, fixtures, and equipment. Install safety and distribution components: switches, resistors, circuit break panels. Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components. Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through conduits. Prevent breakdown of systems by inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulate cables, cleaning circuits. Perform troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units. Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production, perform electronic tests and inspections, cleaning contacts, circuit boards, ensuring systems are grounded. Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and adjust. Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing tasks. Qualifications: Can perform all job responsibilities safely. Can read and write in English. Work with all personnel in plant. Use SAP, Microsoft excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets), Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Understanding of Electrical safety. Experience: Experience related to continuous improvement programs (TPM). Have one (1) year minimum of trade or technical skill set, such as Welding, Electrical, HVAC, Industrial Maintenance, or Machine Shop. Education: High School Education or equivalent.
