RAMS is a licensed Electrical Contractor and a state licensed Pre-Apprenticeship school for the electrical trade. We are holding interviews for those people who are interested in becoming commercial electricians. If selected into the program, you will be paid while in school and have all your required tools provided to you at no cost while in the program. The training program is 100% free to those individuals selected! Those individuals who are selected for the program will be hired full time by RAMS.
The JumpStart program is six months long and broken out into two phases.
Phase one will be an intense week of both hands-on training and classroom training. You will be taught the basics of electrical theory, EMT bending, circuitry, material identification, tool use, and OSHA safety.
Phase two will be the OJT (On the Job training) portion. You will be assigned to a commercial job site and teamed with a Journeyman level commercial electrician to learn while you work.
Once you graduate the JumpStart program you are still a RAMS employee, but now have the basic skills to work/function in the field. You are also now eligible to be sponsored into a four-year apprenticeship school.
The pay is as follows:
First week of classroom training you make $12.00 per hour.
On the first day of your second week (1st day of your assignment), you will be making $14.00 per hour while on the job training. GETTING PAID WHILE LEARNING!!!
After the completion of 160 hours of OJT, your pay goes to $16.00 per hour.
After the completion of 620 additional hours of OJT, your pay goes to $17.00 per hour until the program is completed.

About the role
Electricians will inspect, repair and/or replace electrical control circuits, variable speed controllers, plant lighting, and switchgear 4160/480 volts and lower. They will troubleshoot and repair electrical component malfunctions on plant equipment and perform corrective maintenance on cranes, motors, conveyors, trammels, fans, cherry pickers, etc. This individual will terminate electric motors 4160 volts or lower. Installing conduit and wiring for new installations and repairs to existing installations is required. Performing preventative maintenance on all plant electrical equipment is essential and completing required documentation of work to be done and accomplished. Routinely takes readings using multi-meter and megger for testing of motors and circuits. Reading, interpreting, and utilizing stores catalog and equipment manuals for technical clarification and requisitioning parts and material is required. The electrician should be able to operate a computer to access the Maintenance Management Program for equipment history and work order reviews, both corrective and preventive.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform maintenance on industrial plant electrical distribution systems in a waste to energy facility.
Perform maintenance and testing of low and medium voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, motor starters, and power transformers.
Perform maintenance of higher voltage switch yard equipment and steam turbine driven generators
Perform electrical maintenance work related to energy from waste boilers and its associated equipment including but not limited to, fans, motors, & refuse cranes.
Perform electrical maintenance work related to energy from waste air pollution control systems.
Perform various electrical and electrical maintenance and repair work as assigned using proper Reworld safety practices.
Troubleshoot electrical and problems and complete all maintenance work records.
Actively participate in plant shutdown work including tear down inspection of electrical plant equipment
Keeps work area and tools in clean, same, and orderly manner. Perform plant and shop housekeeping chores.
Complete required Reworld training within the assigned timelines.
Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the E&I leadership team.
REQUIREMENTS (Education, Skills, Certificates, Licenses, Experience):
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Formal technical or apprentice training preferred.
A minimum of three years of experience as a maintenance electrician in a power plant or a similar field required.
Strong working knowledge of 120V to 4160V, AC switchgear.
The ability to work from layout plans and blueprints for electrical equipment installation or troubleshooting work.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, maintenance instructions, and other procedure manuals.
Ability to speak and communicate effectively with supervisors and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to follow Reworld safety rules.
Ability to log onto a computer and complete assigned training.
Required being on call on rotating basis as well as working overtime based on plant needs, which may include weekends and holidays.
