Position Overview: As an AV Field Engineer, you will work closely with our project management, design, and installation teams to ensure the successful implementation of audiovisual systems that meet the specific needs of our clients. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and quality control of AV systems, ensuring everything meets the project's technical and functional requirements. Key Responsibilities: System Installation: Report to job sites on time and lead the installation of low-voltage, AV, security, and network systems. Ensure installations are completed on schedule and meet all project specifications and industry standards. Team Coordination: Work with Project Managers, Design Engineers, and other technical teams as well as other trades to ensure smooth installation and integration of AV systems. On-Site Supervision: Supervise on-site labor, ensuring the team follows best practices and the scope of work is met. System Configuration: Program and configure AV equipment, including but not limited to Polycom, Biamp, QSC, Crestron, Extron, AMX, Cisco, DSPs, matrix mixers, and switchers. Troubleshooting & Punch Lists: Perform troubleshooting and problem-solving as needed, and complete field punch lists to ensure systems meet client acceptance and project specifications. Field Service & Support: Provide on-site support for warranty calls and post-installation troubleshooting. Testing & QC: Perform system testing for quality control to ensure optimal performance and functionality. Status Reporting: Provide daily progress updates to Project Managers and Design Engineers, ensuring project timelines are adhered to. Networking Configuration: Configure IP addressable devices such as routers, switches, servers, and other network equipment as part of system integration. Project Involvement: Participate in projects from the initial estimating phase through final inspections and commissioning. Client Interaction: Professionally engage with clients, answering technical questions and providing training on completed systems as needed. In-House & Field Work: While fieldwork will account for 90% of assignments, be prepared to assist with in-house work as needed. Safety & Tools: Be familiar with multimeters, digital and analog test generators, and other electronic test meters, and adhere to all safety protocols. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs and work in diverse conditions, including confined spaces, attics, and outdoor environments, year-round. Qualifications & Skills: Experience: At least 4 years of hands-on experience in the AV integration field, particularly in a commercial or high-tech environment. Technical Expertise: Proven experience with AV and video conferencing solutions, including equipment from brands such as Cisco, AMX, Crestron, Q-SYS, Atlona, Extron, and Polycom. Networking Knowledge: Solid understanding of networking technologies (LAN/WAN), including hardware and software for switches, routers, hubs, and other IP-based devices. Familiarity with fiber optics and copper wiring for AV signal distribution is also required. Technical Tools: Competence with tools such as MS Office, Visio, Projects, and D-Tools. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and system schematics. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate technical information to clients, project teams, and management. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex AV system issues. Customer Service: Professional demeanor and a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
