The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following job duties:
Coordinate all phases of assigned area electrical engineering projects from concept, scope development, written specifications, bid solicitations, design, manufacturing, equipment commissioning, and project closure
Lead and participate in problem solving efforts with multi-discipline technical staff, maintenance and production
Use PI Vision and Data Link to analyze process issues and provide input to solve process problems
Create and develop electrical control solutions that will support process improvements and improve equipment reliability.
Assist production and maintenance with equipment and process issues
PLC/HMI and controls redesign and upgrades of existing processes
Install and troubleshoot camera systems on industrial equipment
May mentor employees to increase their knowledge of equipment and process, when needed
While this position is a primarily day-shift position, off-hours support will be required as needed.
Qualifications for Internal Candidates
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (at time of employment)
Minimum of 1 internship, co-op or other applicable work experience

Qualified candidates should also have a thorough knowledge of NEC as applied to industrial electrical design, strong communication skills both orally and in writing, business acumen, strong attention to detail and safety, and be able to represent the company with professionalism and integrity.
Preferred candidates will also have experience with switchgear automation and SCADA/DCS interfaces, and be a registered Professional Engineer (preferably in Iowa or Illinois) with the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) for application for reciprocity licenses in additional states and/or territories as needed. Supports business objectives in the role of Substation Design Engineer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as lead engineer on design projects responsible for the technical design, oversight, and review of the substation engineering work submitted by contractors, in support of the development and implementation of substation projects.
Coordinates with internal and external teams to ensure designs follow ITC engineering standards and best practices.
Provides technical support to field personnel and contractors in the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of system components.
Makes authoritative recommendations to troubleshoot complex technical problems on various electrical equipment and systems.
Collaborates with other engineers and departments which may include creating conceptual designs and layouts, consulting, managing projects, organizing resources or maintenance.
Prepares estimates, material requisitions, specifications and drawings for substation projects.
Independently creates designs for substation installations for internally designed projects.
Reviews and approves designs created by other Engineers and Associate Engineers.
Provides mentorship and technical guidance to other Engineers and Associate Engineers.
Generates internal and external reports on various facets of transmission system.
Attends meetings and training sessions to increase professional knowledge and skills.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Major in Electrical Engineering; or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
Minimum of five (5) years of related engineering experience.
Technical expertise in planning, design, construction and/or maintenance of electric power transmission lines, substations, power equipment or control systems (including relay protection, SCADA and telecommunications),
Power system coursework preferred for electrical engineering majors.
Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards including National Electronic Safety Code (NESC), American Concrete Institute (ACI) and American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) for civil engineering majors.
Utility experience preferred.
Possess sound analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors and individuals inside and outside the Company.
Ability to multi-task and work under minimal supervision, in a team environment.
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access).
Ability to learn and utilize job specific software.
