Requirements:
Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in chemical/environmental engineering, environmental science, or related discipline
Experience in consulting, or the environmental field; and understanding of industry manufacturing processes preferred.
Strong organizational, technical calculation, and analytical skills.
Familiarity with federal and state environmental regulations, preferably those specific to the energy industry (oil & gas and chemical/petroleum processing)
Basic chemistry knowledge
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Attention to detail, strong written/verbal communication skills, and effective organizational/analytical capabilities are a must; should also possess experience in writing detailed technical reports

The Expertise You Have and The Skills You Bring
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
3+ years of IT experience with at least 2 of these being in a hands-on application security role.

The Office of Building Water System Oversight (BWSO) within the Bureau of Environmental Sciences and Engineering (ESE) is responsible for conducting inspections to ensure compliance with various rules and regulations aimed at improving the operating conditions of various engineered systems such as cooling towers, water tanks, evaporative condensers, internal plumbing, and wastewater systems in order to prevent risks associated with these systems.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- Under supervision, the Scientist (Water Ecology) Level I will assist in performing field inspections that include regulatory compliance review of Water Maintenance Plans, Operational Records, Chemical Treatment, and Mechanical Equipment for a facility's water systems. Including but not limited to various cooling tower systems and potable water systems. Field inspections may also include water sample collection and water quality analysis.
- Under supervision will assist to generate and submit field inspection reports according to the Bureau's inspection protocols.
- Under supervision, will assist with customer service to our regulated community including building owners, facility maintenance personnel, superintendents, and any other responsible parties.
- Assist to provide recommendations to improve regulatory compliance and corrective actions to eliminate environmental health hazards promptly in accordance with the NYC Health Code and NYS Sanitary Code regulations.
- May be trained to review inspection findings and prepare necessary evidence used by the Department at Tribunal hearings convened to adjudicate notice of violations and summonses.
- Under supervision, Scientists (Water Ecology), Level I will assist with following protocols in response to signals triggered by the Department's Legionella disease surveillance system
- Prepare collected water samples for drop off or for shipping to commercial laboratories including completion of all necessary laboratory forms and documents
- Assist in conducting field surveys associated with identifying potential risks for Legionella exposure.

We are seeking a Fish Ecologist, Research, Pristine Seas to support and scale our approach over the next five years
The Fish Ecologist for Pristine Seas conducts high-impact scientific research in furtherance of the Pristine Seas' mission. The candidate will conduct coral reef research on expeditions, support the production of high-quality scientific reports and publications, and provide input to inform decision-makers regarding the necessity of protecting the last wild places in the ocean
The Fish Ecologist reports to the VP of Research and will be part of a cohesive, collaborative, and high-performing research team. The research team is comprised of experts from a wide variety of marine disciplines; we value adaptability, curiosity and scientific rigor and value team members that enjoy collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team and are thoughtful and respectful of other cultures and partners with whom we work. Your Impact
Marine Expeditions (40%)
Lead scuba-based fish surveys while on expedition at a high level of taxonomic resolution
Collaborate with VP of Research and participate in at least 2 and up to 3 expeditions per year
Be the scientific lead for an expedition at least once every two years. This involves multiple trips to the country prior to and after the expedition.
Assist in development of expedition science plans.
Assist with operation and execution of existing pristine seas data collections methods as needed in the field.
Data Analysis and Reporting (40%)
Contribute to all expedition reports (2-3 per year)
Lead the writing and synthesis of at least one expedition scientific report every other year
Collaborate with scientists from around the world in the creation of high-impact scientific publications, which utilize Pristine Seas data and research to highlight the importance of these remote areas in better understanding how pristine ecosystems function.
Lead the production of at least one scientific publication in a peer-reviewed journal each year.
Participate in conferences to report on Pristine Seas scientific findings, as agreed upon with the Executive Director.
Disseminate scientific information to a variety of stakeholders from academics, to government agencies, local communities, and school groups.
Policy activities (10%)
Provide oral briefings, presentations, written material and occasional on-camera appearances in supporting media to support Pristine Seas' mission.
Provide content and review Pristine Seas policy documents, presentations, and briefing materials.

Work with the Communications and Education teams to disseminate research

The advanced bio & physical sciences for low carbon energy (AB&PS) team is the central research organization for biosciences, chemistry, materials sciences, biofuels, green hydrogen/ electrochemistry, and the science of carbon-capture. Our team also incorporates computational modelling of biosciences and chemistry.
The opportunity is for a Senior Plant Biologist which will act as technical guide in feedstocks and will work closely with the AB&PS science teams and other collaborators across the bp businesses on bioenergy projects.
The successful candidate will provide technical expertise to support the scientific and technology projects to investigate and implement feedstock insights and solutions for bp. The post holder will examine, research and provide insight into both opportunities and challenges related to crop development, management, output and quality. Additionally, they will serve as an interface between bio-feedstocks production opportunities and conversion strategies.
Key accountabilities
Support bioenergy feedstock projects by applying technical expertise and know-how to see opportunities and work with the technology development teams to evaluate economics and sustainability and develop business and participation frameworks.
Provide technical expertise through:
Understanding of plant biology, plant physiology, biotechnology, plant breeding and other crop development technologies. Experience in trait development and/or biological mechanisms that regulate important plant processes and impact growth and development desired
Assisting with plant sourcing, testing and selection
Understanding of growing climate threats such as drought events or adverse precipitation patterns, decreases in biodiversity and loss of fertile soils on the future of bio-feedstocks
Provide technology strategy and roadmap directions to AB&PS research and innovation programs on bio-feedstocks to ensure alignment with bp's strategy.

MA/MS/PhD in subject areas such as Plant Biology, Botany, Plant Genetics, Agronomy, Agriculture or related field with 5+ years of experience (or bachelor's with relevant experience).
In-depth knowledge of bio-feedstocks, and plant physiology, including experience with conversion technologies or low carbon product innovation. Understand the interdependence of feedstock production and its utilization.

Employees may travel to a POWER office for periodic meetings.
**Roles and responsibilities**
The successful candidate will lead wetland and waterbody delineations, organize and summarize field-collected data, compile survey reports, and draft permit applications for ecological projects located in the Midwest while offering support to projects across the country. Candidates must be capable of working as part of a diverse and dynamic project team. Candidates must be physically prepared to work long days outdoors in variable weather and terrain. Projects will require frequent overnight travel to various locations throughout the region.
Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
· Completing wetland and waterbody delineations.
· Conducting habitat assessments or wildlife species surveys.
· Organizing field-collected data and compiling survey reports.
· Implementing health and safety plans, coordinating schedules with the team, and interfacing with both internal staff (project managers, engineers, and other discipline leads) as well as client representatives.
· Assisting our clients to develop and implement successful survey and natural resource permitting strategies.
· Coordinating with agency staff.
· Mentoring junior staff to develop technical skills for ecological survey and environmental permitting tasks.
**Required Education/Experience**
· Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or another related field
· Three (3) + years of experience conducting ecological surveys
· Strong analytical, time-management, and problem-solving skills
· Excellent written and oral communication skills. Commitment to quality with solid attention to detail and organizing data and reports
· Knowledge of the 1987 Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineations Manual and appropriate regional supplements
· Basic understanding of Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 404/401 permitting and Endangered Species Act (ESA) regulations
· Experience in writing and managing the preparation of technical reports or permit applications
· Valid driver's license and clean driving record
· Must be willing and able to travel throughout the Midwest with potential for travel throughout the U.S. Up to 60% travel is expected
**Preferred Education/Experience**
· Experience with a variety of biological and GPS data collection systems
· Task or Project Management experience

Job Description
AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Field Biologist for part-time, on call employment in the southern/central California and Nevada desert regions. This position would support numerous natural resource projects in the Mojave Desert region of California and Nevada with a focus on conducting biological surveys and regulatory compliance monitoring primarily for desert tortoise and/or burrowing owl, with potential to assist with vegetation mapping, wildlife assessments, habitat restoration, and/or permitting implementation with support from a senior biologist. This is a field-based, fully remote position requiring the ability to be local on field assignments for extended periods but linked to a Southern California-based office.
Training and/or experience conducting surveys for listed species local to southern California and Nevada desert regions including desert tortoise, burrowing owl, Mojave fringe-toed lizard, and Mojave ground squirrel is preferred. Applicant must meet guidelines to become a desert tortoise monitor by the USFWS and CDFW.
The responsibilities of this position could include a subset of those listed below based on relevant experience:
Conduct desert tortoise, burrowing owl, desert kit fox, and American badger surveys and monitoring.
Conduct general wildlife and/or botanical surveys, including vegetation and habitat mapping.
Identify and record native and non-native fauna and/or flora in the field.
Conduct other special-status species surveys, following established protocols or guidelines as relevant.
Conduct avian nesting surveys and avian mortality monitoring.
Support project execution, including pre-construction surveys and construction monitoring.
Assist with environmental compliance monitoring.
Perform other related duties assigned, such as coordination with team members, scheduling of work, etc.
Utilize electronic data collection methods in the field; manage, interpret, and analyze data, as needed.
Conduct monitoring and survey fieldwork as part of a team and independently in inland and desert environments, which can include rugged terrain.
Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
Ensure assigned tasks stay on schedule and budget.
Elevate compliance concerns to senior-level team members.
Provide clarification of resource project requirements to the compliance and construction teams.
Promote safety culture and adherence to Safe Work Plans.
Desert Tortoise Monitor:
To be approved by USFWS and CDFW for desert tortoise monitoring, the applicant must have the knowledge and experience to conduct any or all of the following, as needed:
Ability to locate, identify, and report all forms of desert tortoise sign in accordance with approved protocols.
Knowledge of desert tortoise behavior, natural history, ecology, and physiology.
Field experience and training to safely and successfully conduct desert tortoise surveys and monitoring.
Completion of
Introduction to Mojave Desert Tortoise
course from the Desert Tortoise Council (or equivalent).
Familiarity with the
Desert Tortoise (Mojave Population) Field Manual
(USFWS 2009).
Ability to conduct tortoise surveys as part of a team under the leadership of an authorized desert tortoise biologist.
Monitor proper implementation of desert tortoise protective measures.
Record and report incidents of noncompliance in accordance with a biological opinion or permit.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:

Possess a 10(A)(1)(a) permit for federally listed species local to southern California and Nevada.
Ability to drive a 4-wheel drive vehicle over difficult terrain.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Familiarity with mitigation, monitoring, and reporting programs.
Experience on construction-associated transmission and/or utility projects.
Familiarity with regulatory and permitting requirements under the federal Endangered Species Act, California Endangered Species Act, NEPA, CEQA, and the Clean Water Act.

The position will assist with remediating different types of content from multiple platforms to ensure accessibility for all users. Also will make Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files accessible as well as adding descriptions to both image files and video content. Remediation work will include alternate format requests from patrons as well as all new, inaccessible files uploaded to Libraries' applications. The level of complexity of the work will vary depending on content of documents. The selected candidate will also help to keep statistics and track requests as they are completed. May occasionally scan textbooks or other files and may also help to assist with accessibility concerns involving databases or web content as needed.

Pastoralism is a source of income for 80 million people and plays a fundamental role in the resilience of populations, including in terms of jobs and food security. ECOWAS is developing a transformative project to enhance livestock systems' resilience to climate change in the region. Climate change poses significant risks to livestock production, affecting food security, livelihoods, and ecosystems.
FAO as an accredited agency for GCF has received a request from ECOWAS to support the development of a full-fledged project proposal to be submit to the GCF. This project aims to develop innovative adaptation strategies and mitigation measures through data-driven analysis of climate impacts. The consultant shall be hired under the TCP/SFW/3904.
Technical Focus
The International Expert will support a team of experts for the design and preparation of a GCF multi-country full fledge project proposal. The expert will lead the development of technical components related to agro-sylvo-pastoralism and natural resources for the GCF project proposal, ensuring alignment with international standards, regional priorities, and national frameworks of ECOWAS member states. He will contribute to designing innovative and climate-resilient solutions tailored to the socio-ecological and natural resources dynamics of West Africa. He will also provide technical expertise on sustainable management and governance of land, water, and biodiversity resources to support the development of the GCF project proposal. The expert will work closely with the experts recruited under this project to ensure smooth coordination between the outputs. He will work closely with the International Expert in Climate change and the other experts to produce some output.
Reporting Lines
The Expert will be under the overall supervision of the Sub Regional Coordinator SFW, the direct supervision of the Senior Policy Officer at SFW, the technical supervisor of the SFW Animal Health and Production Officer and Project Development Specialist (GCF) in consultation with OCB Teams.
Tasks and responsibilities
The Expert in agro-sylvo-pastoralism for design of multi-country full fledge project proposal will carry out the following tasks:• Work closely with the FAO GCF Unit, the FAO technical units, the project development specialist and experts to ensure appropriate quality control, completeness, and timeliness of project proposals.• Support the identification and oversee project formulation at their different stages and in close collaboration with the FAO country offices, FAO GCF unit and relevant regional and/or sub-regional technical officers.• Develop a comprehensive strategy for integrating agro-sylvo-pastoral systems and natural resources that support livestock production and enhance ecosystemic services into the GCF project framework.• Assess the status of natural resources in the ECOWAS region, focusing on their role in agro-sylvo-pastoral systems.• Assess drivers of natural resources degradation, natural resources availability and challenges in livestock and pastoral areas within the ECOWAS countries.• Help FAO Team for dialog with local stakeholders, including farmers, herders, and community organizations, to promote best practices in agro-sylvo-pastoralism and natural resources management.• Provide technical support in the design and implementation of project activities related to natural resources management and sustainable land management practices that enhance animal productivity and resilience. • Conduct an in-depth analysis of agro-sylvo-pastoral systems in the ECOWAS region, focusing on climate vulnerabilities and opportunities for resilience.• Assess the social and ecological impacts of the proposed interventions.• Identify best practices in sustainable land management, reforestation, and livestock integration.• Map existing natural resource governance frameworks, policies, and institutional arrangements.• Identify priority interventions for sustainable land, water, and biodiversity management in livestock systems.• Contribute to the design of nature-based solutions to improve the resilience of agro-pastoral systems.• Recommend strategies to integrate climate change mitigation and adaptation into natural resource management practices in agro-sylvo-pastoral systems.• Document stakeholder perspectives and ensure their alignment with project objectives and ensure integration of indigenous knowledge and participatory approaches in project design.• Develop project concepts and technical components for agro-sylvo-pastoral adaptation and mitigation measures.• Prepare feasibility studies for proposed interventions, including cost-benefit analysis and risk assessment.• Contribute to organizing meeting and workshops to validate the proposal.Performs other related duties as required.

The Specialist will work with our team to engage future potential farmer partners and evaluate potential farm sites to add to our growing list of farms.
