The transportation driver/custodian, under the direction of the COO, will transport patients to and from appointments at SCHS, ensuring all safety measures and precautions are followed; and custodial duties as outlined in the job description. STATEMENT OF THE JOB: Under the overall supervision of the Early Childhood Director and the direct supervision of the Center Manager, carries out all duties and responsibilities as related to the transportation of children and maintenance of designated vehicles and facilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Maintain a professional attitude at all times with staff, parents, volunteers and children. Work with Supervisor in designing bus routes. Drive bus on designated route morning and afternoon five days a week. Responsible for safe transportation of children as they board, ride and leave the bus and returned to their parents or other authorized adult. Responsible for the maintenance of buildings, grounds and bus(es) in a professional and timely manner, including, but not limited to: changing air filters in HVAC units monthly fire extinguisher checks watering, mowing, trimming and weed-eating seeing that buses are in good operating condition at all time and for reporting any problems to the direct supervisor Clean and safe environment inside and outside the bus through regular cleaning. Participate in the required Random Drug and Alcohol Testing for Bus Drivers. Participate in a combination of classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel instruction training prior to transporting any children. This training involves the following: operating the vehicle in a safe and efficient manner; safely running a fixed route; administering basic first aid in case of an injury; handling emergency situations, including vehicle evacuation procedures; operating special equipment such as a wheelchair lift; assistance devices or special occupant restraints; conducting routine maintenance and safety checks of the vehicle; orientation on the goals and philosophy of Head Start and how they are implemented by the program. Maintain accurate records regarding their bus and children who are being transported. The record-keeping includes: Accident reports Pre- and post-trip inspections for the operation of the vehicle Regular ongoing maintenance records Contact information for release of a child to a parent or guardian Establish written fixed bus routes and if necessary, alternate routes Collaborate with the Bus Monitor to teach children safe riding practices and safety procedures on and off the bus. Maintain their assigned vehicle and ensure that appropriate safety inspections have been completed for its operation as required by state laws. Must have an annual evaluation that includes an on-board observation of their performance while driving a bus route. Perform minor repairs, as necessary, to ensure safe facilities. Responsible for completion of Maintenance/Work requests in a timely manner and submitting completed orders to Supervisor. Responsible for setting up facility for special activities in a timely manner. Assist in moving supplies, furniture or equipment as needed. Responsible for data management of transportation and designated areas. Assist in the avoidance or appearance of fraud and ensure compliance in the Transportation area and the overall management of the Center. NON- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Respects confidentiality in all aspects of the Head Start program. Must be willing to participate in all training designed for professional development. Able to handle stress, tension and exasperation that contact with many children and adults may bring every day. May be called upon to administer first aid to children or staff at any time in the program. The incidental nature of this circumstance effectively establishes first aid as a collateral duty, rather than a primary one. The Ready Mix Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the ready-mix truck used for delivery of concrete to customers. This takes place in a variety of settings and conditions including uneven ground and extreme weather. The Driver is responsible for conducting pre and post trip inspections to maintain the truck and each Driver is expected to keep their truck clean. Key Responsibilities: Safe and efficient delivery of concrete to customers at job sites Maneuver truck into loading position for filling at the plant(s) and unloading positions at job sites Operate mixer to produce concrete from sand, gravel, cement and water; adjust mixture (slump) as requested by customers, QC Manager/Techs, or Sales Team before leaving the plant and at job sites Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, report any issues or concerns to Fleet manager and/or mechanics Fill out delivery paperwork, collect payment from customers when required and keep records of daily activities; ensure customers sign appropriate paperwork at the time of delivery Driver is responsible for the clean and professional appearance of truck Must fuel up truck after last delivery for the day to ensure seamless operations the following day Requirements Qualifications: All Ready-mix Truck Drivers must have at time of hire and maintain throughout employment an up-to-date DOT Physical 3+ years with either a Class A or Class B CDL; previous experience with a ready mix cement truck or other similar power take-off vehicles is preferred Drivers must be registered with the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse Drivers must have a clean FMCSA Pre-employment Screening with no DUI's or DWI's in the last 5 years and no more than 2 moving violations in the previous 2 years TWIC card is a plus Physical Requirements: Drivers must be physically and mentally able to drive safely; fatigue, medications, and physical injuries may inhibit a driver's ability to safety operate Commercial Vehicle Must pass pre-employment drug screen Must wear all appropriate PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, ear protection, masks, seat belt and steel toe boots) when performing safety sensitive duties or in certain areas of plant or job site. Key Duties: Drive and operate an 18-wheel tractor/cargo tank to safely transport crude oil from the field to pipeline injection point or refinery. Open and close required valves to allow product to flow in or out of the trailer. Climb storage tank (15' to 30') to gauge volume of product that is in the tank so not to overflow the tank. Test product using on-board oil centrifuge and spinning for 5 minutes. Check and record bottom sediment, water percent, temperature and gravity of the product. Record volume and lease site load/unload activity into hand-held computer for printing of run tickets. Prepare driver's Daily Report and other paperwork. Inspect truck, tires, and tank and surrounding area for safety concerns and ensure all operating equipment is in proper working order and meets safety conditions.
