Drive bus on designated route morning and afternoon five days a week. Responsible for safe transportation of children as they board, ride and leave the bus and returned to their parents or other authorized adult. Responsible for the maintenance of buildings, grounds and bus(es) in a professional and timely manner, including, but not limited to: changing air filters in HVAC units monthly fire extinguisher checks watering, mowing, trimming and weed-eating seeing that buses are in good operating condition at all time and for reporting any problems to the direct supervisor Clean and safe environment inside and outside the bus through regular cleaning. Participate in the required Random Drug and Alcohol Testing for Bus Drivers. Participate in a combination of classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel instruction training prior to transporting any children. Responsible for completion of Maintenance/Work requests in a timely manner and submitting completed orders to Supervisor. Responsible for setting up facility for special activities in a timely manner. Assist in moving supplies, furniture or equipment as needed. Responsible for data management of transportation and designated areas. Assist in the avoidance or appearance of fraud and ensure compliance in the Transportation area and the overall management of the Center. NON- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Respects confidentiality in all aspects of the Head Start program. Must be willing to participate in all training designed for professional development. Able to handle stress, tension and exasperation that contact with many children and adults may bring every day.
