Purpose
The purpose of this position is to operate a school bus to provide for the safe and orderly transportation of students and other personnel to and from schools or other designated locations.
Summary
This position performs all activities necessary to transport students and School personnel to and from Geneva School sanctioned events using the school bus. This includes vehicle operation; pre-trip and post-trip bus inspections; recommendations for bus maintenance; instructing passengers on safety rules and regulations; and ensuring these are followed. In addition, the Bus Driver will work with the administrator overseeing the event to plan a travel route. The Bus Driver will then take primary responsibility for monitoring travel conditions to help ensure the safe and timely arrival to School events and to the Geneva campus.
Supervision Received and Exercised
The Bus Driver receives direction from the Transportation Coordinator, Athletic Director or other division head. The Bus Driver has no direct supervisory responsibilities; however, the driver will have authority over the bus passengers with respect to safety and/or emergency procedures.
