The Maker-in-Residence program seeks motivated undergraduate students interested in 3D printing and rapid prototyping for peer to peer consulting in the Maker Commons at the Pattee Library. Operated by Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT), the Maker Commons provides access to and training for students, faculty, and staff using 3D printers, introductory 3D modeling, 3D scanning, as well as rapid prototyping using little Bits, Arduino, Robotics, Cricut Maker, Sewing, E-textiles, and Dye Sublimation. Successful Makers-in-Residence will harvest and maintain 3D printers, provide 1-on-1 consultations for students learning to use 3D printers, demonstrate creative uses of the technology, and act as ambassadors for the use of innovative new maker technologies in education.
Makers-in-Residence should be available to work 8 - 12 hours per week, maintain order and cleanliness in the printing room, reinforce Maker Commons policies and procedures, and have a strong interest in Maker Technologies. Experience with 3D printing is not required, training on technology is provided. Weekday, evening, and weekend availability may be available. Create mounts and other support structures for art objects to the highest professional museum standards. A variety of materials will be used including, but not limited to, metals, wood, plastics, and fabric.

Handling of art objects required. Conservational standards apply.
Accurately estimate time and materials for museum projects.

Inform supervisor of inventory needs and order or request supplies to maintain smooth and continuous production.
Assist other areas of Exhibition Production, Collection Management, and Conservation departments when requested by supervisor.

Requirements and Key Competencies
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); additional training in trade school helpful; Two or more years' experience and/or training in welding techniques and metalwork, basic carpentry, and art handling; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Employee must possess a valid driver's license. Employee should have the ability to read scaled, detail drawings or layouts and to work well under pressure to meet deadlines. Overtime will be required at times. Prior experience of metalworking in a shop environment needed. Painting and carpentry skills also required. Basic understanding of art medias and materials helpful.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Must be able to safely handle fragile, cumbersome, and valuable objects. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places. This position consists of general labor/warehouse job functions
Duties and Responsibilities:
These are material handler roles, will be working on the warehouse floor, loading and unloading boxes, moving boxes and possibly making kits if needed. These are long term contract roles for now, this warehouse makes kits and stores inventory for other distribution centers.
Move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships, or containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, or other equipment.
Attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information.
Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
Stack cargo in locations, such as transit sheds or in holds of ships as directed, using pallets or cargo boards.
Must be able to load and unload merchandise neatly in trailer or pallet by hand.
Candidates must be dependable, punctual & able to demonstrate good work habits.
Requires standing all day at a table adding products to the monthly kit boxes or bags. Repetitive work all day, bending to replenish the products and boxes.
Minimum Qualifications:
Compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently.
Ability to understand and follow English instructions.
Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.
Physical Demands of Job:
