GENERAL Direct Support Professionals (DSP) provide training and support to the elderly and people with disabilities at home, at work, and in the community. DPSs transport, prepare meals, clean, and provide training to people at their homes, workplaces and community. QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent Other: * Minimum high school diploma; must be over the age of 18 * Valid Michigan driver's license, three (3) years of driving experience * Flexibility, caring, good communication and computer skills * DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Complete all training and competencies with a passing score. Achieve all competencies and meet with mentor as scheduled. Provide participants with training and supports. Train and support participants with cleaning, cooking, working, and recreation activities. Complete cooking, cleaning and jobs when participants are unable to. Direct-Care workers provide basic care to developmentally disabled adults and children in the individuals own private residence. Care is provided in accordance with the Personal Plan of Service which is different for each person being served depending on their own unique needs. These needs could include but not limited to personal care, transportation, teaching, guiding and supporting individuals in meeting their own personal needs, dreams and desires. Shifts typically are in eight hour rotations and typically caring for more than one individual per shift.
