Duties:

The Companion is responsible for providing companion to Sisters who are going to doctors' appointments, emergency room or tests in the Convent and SNF. This position when not out on appointments will provide support to SNF and Convent Sisters as needed within the scope of practice and assigned where most needed. Companion for SNF Sisters cannot provide care services unless the Companion is a certified nursing assistant. The companion can provide care services in the Convent as long as they have been trained.

Accompany Sisters to doctor appointments, the hospital, and emergency room as directed by the Nurse Liaison or Nursing Supervisor and remain with them until they return, are relieved by another companion, or Sister is admitted and settled in a room.
Complete Communication log for each companion transport.
Prior to going to hospital verify which ER the Sister was being transported to.
Assist with transporting the Sister back to the Villa upon discharge.
Provide emotional support and comfort while accompanying Sisters.
Assist Sisters while in the ER to call a nurse for assistance.
Keep track of hearing aids, dentures, and glasses while with the sister in the ER or appointments.
Refer medical personnel at the ER or hospital to contact the Nurse Liaison or shift supervisor regarding Sister's transfers, admissions, or changes in condition.

Position Overview:
Respite Connections is a Saturday respite program for youth ages 3-21 with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Specifically, the resident will advise providers on any and all dangers of various drugs, list their side effects, and help them determine the correct dosages for the patient. The residency also includes a staffing component and in this context, the resident will serve a traditional retail pharmacist. SUMMARY OF JOB:
The Companion is responsible for providing companion to Sisters who are going to doctors' appointments, emergency room or tests in the Convent and SNF. This position when not out on appointments will provide support to SNF and Convent Sisters as needed within the scope of practice and assigned where most needed. Companion for SNF Sisters cannot provide care services unless the Companion is a certified nursing assistant. The companion can provide care services in the Convent as long as they have been trained.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities when on Appointments out of the building:
Accompany Sisters to doctor appointments, the hospital, and emergency room as directed by the Nurse Liaison or Nursing Supervisor and remain with them until they return, are relieved by another companion, or Sister is admitted and settled in a room.
Complete Communication log for each companion transport.
Prior to going to hospital verify which ER the Sister was being transported to.
Assist with transporting the Sister back to the Villa upon discharge.
Provide emotional support and comfort while accompanying Sisters.
Assist Sisters while in the ER to call a nurse for assistance.
Keep track of hearing aids, dentures, and glasses while with the sister in the ER or appointments.
Refer medical personnel at the ER or hospital to contact the Nurse Liaison or shift supervisor regarding Sister's transfers, admissions, or changes in condition.
Responsibilities at the Villa
Assist Sisters in the Convent with walking and transfers.
Provide companionship or assistance to Sisters at the Villa as instructed.
Answer call lights and respond to Sisters' request within the scope of their position.
Provide companionship at end-of-life as requested.
Maintain confidentiality.
Report all concerns made by the Sister to the Nurse assigned to their care.
Escort Sisters as needed.
Assist with resident's personal laundry as assigned.
Report all hazardous conditions and equipment to the nurse immediately.
Follow established isolation precautions and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Nurse Liaison or Shift Supervisor, as needed.
