Amazon DSP Strategy & Execution:

The HCS/TxHmL/CLASS/General Revenue program at Metrocare Services provides case management and direct personal support to eligible individuals with developmental disabilities. Services are provided in the community and residential/group home settings. The Direct Support Professional provides training and support to meet the needs of individuals living in Metrocare group homes or within their own homes. Assignments may include group home shifts or community services such as in-home training, doctor's appointments, transportation, respite & office duties. Work involves providing rehabilitative services with the goal of assisting each person to become as independent as possible. The Direct Support Professional II position provides daily living, personal hygiene, social skills training and behavioral management skills training, as needed, for each person assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assignments may include group home shifts, community services such as training, doctor's appointments, respite and other in-home services.
Work involves providing rehabilitative services with the goal of assisting each person to become as independent as possible.
The Direct Support Professional II position provides daily living, personal hygiene, social skills training and behavioral management skills training, as needed, for each person.
Additional duties may include general maintenance of Center vehicles and cleaning duties around the home.
Services provided are to be delivered in a timely manner and accuracy of documentation is a requirement.
The Direct Support Professional II position provides all services in accordance with the Texas Administrative Code for HCS & TxHmL and the IDD Service Definition Manual provided by HHS.
Responsible for maintaining a healthy, safe, and therapeutic environment for individuals and following through on their plans of care.
Administer medication as allowed by appropriate state medication administration guidelines.
Ensure the health and welfare of the individuals served.
Assist individual(s) served with medication and treatment plans as needed.
Train individuals in the care and cleaning of their living area or home by performing and modeling simple tasks such as making a bed, cleaning the floor, and other basic housekeeping tasks.
Clean the living area and assist individuals with laundry.
Report on general maintenance needs of living area or home.
Assist individuals served with money management, including budgeting, banking, and shopping.
Assist individuals served with daily life activities such as meal preparation, reading usage, use of telephone, use of community services (e.g., post office, mass transportation), housekeeping, clothing care, self-care, and personal hygiene.
Make food and non-food purchases for the home when requested.
Prepare meals
Complete all required documentation (e.g., daily notes, incident reports, and medical information such as seizures, vital signs as trained, etc.)
Implement behavioral and other programs as trained and requested.
Assist individuals served with their goals as outlined in their plan of care document(s).
Identify potential behavior triggers and defuse or redirect them as needed to ensure the safety and well-being of all involved.
Provide transportation for individuals served in the company vehicle as requested, i.e., appointments, activities, etc.
Report accidents/incidents and suspected cases of abuse or neglect of individuals per policies and procedures.
Assist with emergencies and urgent matters as they arise and make appropriate notifications to management.
Constantly moves about to coordinate work.
Regularly assist the individual(s) served physically by lifting and positioning them as appropriate.
Constantly alert and aware of individual(s) served needs.
Demonstrate the ability to relate effectively to individuals, their families and other staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required: High School or GED or pass a competency test.
Preferred: 1 year of experience working with people with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with reports and numbers.

This position works closely with supervisors, addressing issues and concerns within the team to achieve desired results.
Essential Duties:
Supervise residents to ensure their safety and wellbeing and adjust the level of supervision according to the circumstances and needs of the residents in care.
All shifts, including overnight shifts, must stay awake throughout shift and document headcounts per program requirement, and use of bathroom and any unusual sleep patterns or behaviors. Provides supportive supervision for residents unable to sleep. On night shifts, must stay in contact with other night staff as required.
Make sure residents have the appropriate clothing, shoes, personal care supplies, and hygiene items needed for grooming. Provide encouragement and coaching on maintaining good hygiene and proper attire, as required by the program.
Support the education of residents in care by ensuring they are on time to attend school, participating in teacher conferences, and providing assistance with homework as needed. Monitor classrooms, if residents attend school onsite.
Implement daily activity schedules including, but not limited to, hygiene, mealtime, chores, schoolwork and recreation. Assist in the planning, ordering, and preparation of healthy meals and snacks in the home.
