POSITION DESCRIPTION:

They will oversee all phases of food purchasing, storage, preparation, production control; merchandising, service, and inventory control to provide optimum nutrition, minimize cost and ensure compliance with all Federal and State regulatory agencies.
Position requires overnight travel to assigned FDVA facilities.
Operational Duties:
* Develop standard menus (to include seasonal changes) for all State Veterans' Homes and coordinate as needed with the Homes to personalize the menus as needed for the needs of their specific population.
* Coordinate with Homes to streamline the purchasing of foods and supplies to maximize our buying power (e.g. seasonal foods, volume discounts, specials).
* Responsible for developing and implementing standards and procedures for dietary services.
* Conduct independent quarterly facility visits to assigned State Veterans' Homes.
* Provide onsite evaluations and audits of dietary services and develop/implement training as needed.
* Present routine ongoing in-service instruction to maintain/improve dietary practices.
