Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule Position Salary Range: $81,757.08/year - $114,664.94/year Annual salary is based on a 176-day contract with a minimum of $81,757.08; beginning salary will be determined by the assessment of the candidate's education and related experience. New hires start no higher than $87,663.74 unless exceptional circumstances prevail. Certain positions may also be eligible for assignment/project-based additional compensation, including a High Demand Stipend up to $8,350 annually, prorated based on the discipline and duration of the assignment. The CIDA-accredited program provides students with a broad foundation in fine arts and design, skill-based practice, and critical thinking experiences. The curriculum offers rigorous and varied methods of design investigation, including exposure to a variety of interior project types and relevant design problems. Our program currently enrolls over 300 full- and part-time students, historically graduating an average of 30 to 50 students per year. The program attracts students with diverse cultural and academic backgrounds, with half of our students employed while they are enrolled, and many returning students who are preparing for or reacting to career or life changes. Currently, we have 5 full-time faculty members and many talented adjunct instructors, all with diverse academic backgrounds and practice-based experience, and a dedication to student success. Essential Functions Teaching duties include: * Conduct equitable teaching and promote learning excellence in the Interior Design department via grounded or hybrid course delivery. * Foster a positive and caring learning community where diversity and pluralism are advanced. * Promote creative and critical thinking through a variety of applied and project-based learning methods. * Provide verbal and written assessment of student learning outcomes. * Establish and maintain weekly office hours (5 hours/week) to assist students with academic advising, coursework, and classroom-related questions. * Review and update assigned courses to ensure currency of information, appropriate pedagogy, and implementation of student learning outcomes that achieve CIDA accreditation standards. * Maintain knowledge and skills in teaching, in the interior design discipline, and in cultural versatility. * Participate in all College-required faculty training. * Support the college's Pluralism and Diversity initiative and Student Success initiative by integrating related concepts into class activities and departmental programs. * Provide culturally responsible departmental and degree pathway advising to prospective and currently enrolled program students on degree completion planning, transfer credit evaluation, and career preparation, including navigating obstacles that underrepresented, and historically marginalized student populations may experience in college (e.g. students with disabilities, students of color, first generation college students, LBGTQia students, Veterans, 2nd language learners, etc.). Non-teaching duties include: * Participate in program-level curriculum development and revision that is appropriate for a culturally diverse population. * Contribute to college and departmental governance and activities (e.g. project leadership, program chair roles, college-wide effort to dismantle barriers that can impact underrepresented and historically marginalized student populations, etc.). * Assist in the development, distribution, and collection of student learning outcome assessments. * Participate in ongoing professional development activities. * Build positive and professional relationships with students, colleagues, college administration, and the community. * Promote program growth through retention and recruitment which could be through, community outreach through instructional and program-sponsored efforts, promoting collaborative relationships with guest lecturers and critics, industry partners, civic organizations, high schools, and the regional community at large. * Perform other reasonable duties and functions that may be assigned by the Arts & Humanities Dean and Interior Design Department Chair. Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in interior design, architecture, interior architecture, environmental design, or industrial design. * Professional experience in interior design, architecture, interior architecture, environmental design, or industrial design. * Experience using industry-standard digital design media and emerging communication tools for virtual collaboration and online instruction. * Experience in integrating diversity, pluralism, and inclusion into teaching and learning, or equivalent transferable skills to do so. * Familiarity with Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) standards, National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) certification, and their relevance to interior design education and practice. Preferred Qualifications * National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) certification. * Master's degree from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in interior design, architecture, interior architecture, environmental design, industrial design, or other relevant discipline. * A minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching in higher education. * Experience forming an interior design curriculum or courses to address environmental, social, and economic design sustainability issues, and familiarity with industry standard organizations and certifications (e.g. GBC, LFI, LEED, etc.). * Active affiliation with professional design organizations. * Experience in teaching a variety of interior design-related subjects in a four-year curriculum, such as foundational and advanced design studios, history and theory, and industry-standard software. * Mastery of digital design media, graphic communication skills and presentation techniques. * Expertise in interdisciplinary curriculum and teaching. * Expertise using 3D digital and traditional fabrication tools and processes. * Experience in curriculum development and program management in a multi-cultural college setting. * Leadership experience in bringing together people of diverse backgrounds in an inclusive and collaborative manner.
