What You'll Do:
You'll be asked to handle a variety of responsibilities, including:
Collaboration & Connection
Collaborating with technology, product, and business teams to uncover customer and business needs - then translating them into intuitive and engaging digital experiences
Advocating for the customer through human centered design methods, including: discovery, research, whiteboarding sessions, and user testing
Supporting design-led workshops to engage and build alignment across different partners and teams
Championing prioritization of design centered product enhancements grounded in research and analysis
Connecting with design community peers by learning, sharing, and teaching
Working with partners and teams across various geographies
Embracing and advocating for an experience mindset - this is as important to the work as the results
Participating in hiring by reviewing resumes, conducting interviews and attending consensus
Discovery & Delivery
Supporting early product definition by working with partners to participate in discovery sessions that uncover customer pain points and opportunities
Demonstrating proficiency with design tools to deliver concepts and enable successful collaboration across teams
Participating in end-to-end product design by:
Working with researchers and other designers to understand customer needs and define opportunities through usability and empathy studies
Collaborating closely with fellow user experience designers, researchers, product managers, and engineers to define, challenge and solve complex problems to enhance interactivity and delight users
Creating user flows, storyboards, interaction models, and narrative demos resulting in low to high fidelity prototypes
Designing within existing - and creating new - standards to contribute to our internal design system, best practices, and guidelines for designing for different devices and platforms
Supporting effective storytelling and presentation of visual concepts to various stakeholders
Creating high fidelity design assets for acceptance, development, and delivery to market in partnership with technology colleagues
Problem solving systemically for extensibility and re-use
Confidently communicating your decision-making and the ideas of the team to a broad audience of internal stakeholders, including presenting your creative work to company leadership
Leading multiple high-stakes projects and deadlines efficiently and effectively within a fast-paced product environment
Basic Qualifications
At least 4 years of experience in UI/UX design, product design or interaction design
At least 4 years of experience working with design and prototyping tools, such as Figma
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or military experience
Experience designing for cross-channel and platform experiences
Experience collaborating cross functionally between product design and engineering
Experience working within an established design system and contributing back to it

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $127,500 - $145,500 for Pr. Associate, Design
New York, NY: $139,100 - $158,700 for Pr. Associate, Design
Richmond, VA: $115,900 - $132,200 for Pr. Associate, Design
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.

Duties
Designers are expected to understand the design process and support projects teams through all phases.
Support the development of programming and space planning during Schematic Design.
Participate in field measurements, verifications, and scanning technology of existing conditions.
Create 3D models for presentation and construction documentation.
Support the development of floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, interior elevations, custom millwork, detailing, schedules, and finish documents from Design Development through Construction Documentation.
Support in the selection and application of interior finishes and materials.
Develop presentations that include precedent imagery, 2D and 3D renderings, and animations.
Be familiar with manufacturer's sales representatives, maintain the material library, and sample ordering.
Assist in client meetings and presentations.
Work under the mentorship of a Senior Interior Designer or Architect.
General understanding public health and safety codes including accessibility and environmental guidelines.
Occasionally, travel will be required.
Requirements
Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from a 4 - year CIDA accredited interior design program.
Minimum of zero 0 to 1 year of related experience required, can include internship.
Additional applicable certifications and degrees are encouraged.
Advanced proficiency in Revit, Sketch Up and Adobe Creative Suite and experience with AutoCAD.
Have strong written and verbal communication skills - good presentation and people skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively.
