As the Manager of Store Design you are a part of this family and critical to our success by supporting the retail design process, inclusive of all phases from schematic through construction. They will be responsible for designing and managing retail projects by applying knowledge of architecture, interior design, and construction. This individual will closely collaborate with the cross functional teams to ensure the quality realization of store and reports to our Director of Store Design, Construction, Maintenance What your day will look like: Drive the creative process from direction given by Senior Management, working closely with the Director to establish operational needs and develop/deliver store environments that meet footprint/environment constraints, cost, and expectations. Scope of work involves new store locations, remodels, and minor work projects. Collaborate with Real Estate and Operation teams early in project feasibility process to determine whether proposed locations meet company goals, including site and building configuration, visibility, vehicular access, back of house truck routing and loading coordination. Perform necessary due diligence including but not limited to zoning, signing, and local development standards. Communicate with landlord and building department representatives to obtain project approvals/permits. Participate in developing innovative and creative design solutions consistent with brand strategy and merchandising standards. Adapt current brand design to create feasible layouts for proposed retail spaces. Manage the schematic design process and prepare drawings, renderings, and other presentation materials as required for internal design reviews. Collaborate with Construction to resolve programming needs according to budgets and project schedules. Identify and escalate issues that can adversely impact project schedules, costs, or design integrity. Partner and coordinate design activities with internal stakeholders, as well as outside architects, engineers, suppliers, and vendors as required for construction of retail spaces to ensure project criteria are met. Responsible to maintain design documents prototypes/ “kit-of-parts.” Responsible for the creation and execution of new/remodel interior design documents and/or concepts in a fast-paced environment. This includes coordination and management of outside partners. Use AutoDesk Construction Cloud (ACC) for Project and Cost Management. Upload and maintain all design and construction documents both current and archival. Responsible for procuring owner furnished construction materials using ACC Cost Management, which includes reconciling scope of work against budget, requests for proposals, Purchase Orders/Work Orders, and invoicing. Maintain up-to-date library of floor plans, store calculations, and attributes to be shared with management and other teams as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's /Associates degree (or equivalent experience) in Architecture or related field Minimum 5-7 years of direct progressive experience in Big Box projects, retail design, branded architecture and experiential design with a major retail company or top architectural firm. Working knowledge of architectural details, construction standards, specifications, and building codes for project documents production. Expertise required with CAD, Sketch UP, 3D rendering, Adobe Creative Suite, and Office 365. Effective oral and written communication and the ability to interact and effectively present concepts to senior level executives. Experience managing external architectural and design consultants. Strong analytical & creative problem-solving skills Knowledge of Millwork and Retail Fixture standards and details Be comfortable and confident in bringing ideas to life in the built environment. Ability to work independently and be a self-starter. Some travel anticipated for field surveys or community presentations.
