Essential Functions of the Job: * Coordinates the preparation of reports and written documentation as required by the department, company, state and federal agencies. * Consults with patients and advises them of their dental status, prescribes the treatment required, provides risks and alternatives and documents according to department, company, state and federal agency guidelines. Also responsible for including the patient's financial responsibilities. * Cleans, restores, extracts, and replaces teeth, using rotary and hand instruments, dental appliances, medications, and surgical equipment. * Treats soft hard tissues diseases of the oral cavity; performs surgery on oral tissues when necessary; renders prosthetic treatment when approved and indicated; designs and places orthodontic devices to correct minor malocclusion of teeth and renders any and all dental services to restore the oral health of the patient. * Provides preventive dental services to patients, such as applications of fluoride and sealants to teeth, and provides education in oral health and dental hygiene. * Communicate and manage adjunct faculty in the program as to educational goals, essential experiences, progress exams and competencies. * Manage students and residents as they develop and work through patient treatment plans, achieve educational goals and attain competencies. * Assist with development and maintenance of accreditation. * Conduct daily/weekly meetings with students, faculty, and staff to review issues/plans/events and student /resident achievement. * Work with staff and faculty to train adjunct faculty to achieve clinical calibration. * Complete administrative reports as needed. * Track student and resident progress and collaborate with the Director of Clinical Education and Assoc. Instructs and clinically supervises dental hygienists, dental assistants, and other Para-professional personnel. Participates in developing and reviewing dental treatment protocols, audit procedures, and quality assurance procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Provides dental care to patients, including root canal therapy, restorative (operative and fixed and removal prosthodontics), and oral surgery (simple and surgical). Uses resources efficiently; practices dentistry in a cost-effective manner. Requirements: DEA license General practice residency or equivalent of 2 years clinical experience preferred. Graduate of accredited Dental School. License from the State of California as a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) or a Doctor of Medical Dentistry (D.M.D.) required. Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR (BLS), or Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, or Advance Resuscitation Training.
