Dentists provides high quality direct patient care according to training, experience, and licensure. Dental services are provided in a variety of settings, including dental clinic, medical clinic, schools, and community settings. 1. Provide dental services of a scope, quality and quantity consistent with PL-638 program standards and policies.
2. Develop and implement dental care plans; instruct and counsel patients; record patient progress.
3. Coordinate dental services/activities with contract dentists.
4. Maintain files, develop and follow through on treatment plans within Tribal Health guidelines.
5. Provide Dental Clinic reports, documents, statistical surveys and other required data.

Education:
Applicants must have a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA)or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Licensure:
Applicants must have passed the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE) which are developed and administered by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE)and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Applicants who meet the above basic requirements qualify for the GS-11 grade level.
Experience for the GS-12 level
For the GS-12 level, in addition to meeting the above education and licensure requirements, applicants must have one or more full years of experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing professional dentistry work for GS-12 level and above assignments. Qualifying experience for this position, at this grade level, involves the evaluation, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, injuries, and disorders of the oral cavity and maxillofacial area. Examples of dentistry experience may include the removal of decay; filling cavities; straightening, extracting, and repairing teeth; treating gum diseases; performing corrective surgery; making measurements/models for dentures to replace missing teeth, administering anesthetics, writing prescriptions; and performing other requirements of the position.
Additional Requirements for the GS-12 (or equivalent) Grade Level
In addition to the above Basic Requirements for the GS-11 (or equivalent) level, applicants (for the GS-12 grade level) must complete a 2-year residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science; or equivalent experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, and/or training.

Applicants must be able to distinguish shades of color in addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-11: Your resume and supporting documents (copy of unofficial transcripts and copy or professional license) must demonstrate basic requirements for education and licensure.
GS-12:
* Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: performing a full range of professional dental duties requiring standard corrective, restorative or preventive measures; diagnoses and administers treatment for dental diseases and dental health problems of greater-than-usual difficulty; and dealing with dental health cases presenting patient-behavior and communication problems. Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

Title 38 Physician, Dentists and Podiatrist Pay. Overtime payments or Compensation time is not paid for . Instead, a component of salary is intended to reflect compensation based on recruitment and retention needs for the specialty or assignment of a particular dentist or physician.
