What You Will Do:


II. Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.
Specialists perform multiple mechanical, electrical and/or construction duties while specializing in at least two of the following: Plumbing, Electrical, Electronics, Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning.
1. Performs journey level work in assigned trades. Analyzes and evaluates equipment, troubleshoots problems and performs repairs on various equipment systems, such as, vacuum, medical gas and control air, plumbing, heating ventilation and air conditioning and controls, electrical distribution and electronics.
2. Organizes and coordinates the technical maintenance or construction work and installation services rendered by skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled workers assigned to a multi trade work team.
3. Prepares estimates of time, labor and materials. Ensures that assigned projects adhere to time and cost estimates. Monitors work on site and notifies supervisor of problems, scheduling or deadline issues.
4. Participates in ordering and maintaining inventory and records on all assigned equipment and vehicles, as needed, in accordance with departmental procedures. Documents maintenance of all equipment and vehicles.
5. Prepares requisitions and obtains materials needed to complete assigned projects. Ensures cost effective use of materials allocated
6. Maintains knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and concepts including the ability to properly document maintenance activities. Trains mechanics to perform preventive maintenance properly.
7. Maintains direct communication with Multi-Trade Team Leaders and other department personnel regarding job status.
8. Maintains work areas so that they are in compliance with safety, sanitation and security standards at all times. Reports injuries and accidents in accordance with departmental procedures.


What You Need to Be Successful:


High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
Journeyman's license in one of the following areas: Electrical, Plumbing, Steamfitter, HVAC or a certification in electronics from an appropriate technical school preferred.
Four years of experience in the primary licensed/certified trade. Two years valid technical experience in the secondary area of expertise with the ability to perform quality workmanship in accordance with accepted standards.
No experience required if entering Skilled Trades Apprenticeship Program.

Position Overview

The Day Ahead Power Trader will be part of a group responsible for transactions to optimize returns for Invenergy's fleet of Renewable and Natural Gas burning Power Plants. This position is part of Invenergy's growing Commercial Execution group and will be based out of our Control Center in Downtown Chicago.

Responsibilities

+ Maximize the value of the generation resources though purchases and sales of energy while adhering to the company Risk Management Policy and generating company parameters.

+ Collaborate with gas traders to provide forecasting of generation and fuel requirements. These forecasts will be relied upon to make fuel purchasing decisions.

+ Determine offer/bid prices for the Day Ahead markets and at times negotiate the sale or purchase of power to maximize the profitability and utilization of resources.

+ Monitor the dispatch of the generating assets and provide assistance and guidance to the Real Time Traders as needed.

+ Establish and maintain professional relationships with other marketers and Energy Management customers, both internal and external.

+ Be responsible for making pricing and offer quantity decisions that can have large impact on project profitability with little direct guidance.

+ Analyze and interpret transmission data and models to inform short term trading decisions.

Required Skills

+ Bachelor's Degree preferably in an analytical field such as finance, accounting, or engineering.

+ 2+ years of experience in energy/gas trading environment with experience in PJM, ERCOT, MISO or SPP nodal markets. Experience trading around Generation Assets preferred.

+ Familiarity with thermal generation, electric transmission, gas transportation, and wind and solar energy facilities including forecasting methods.

+ Strong quantitative analytical and problem solving skills.

+ Demonstrated willingness to engage with other team members and senior management in decision making and setting of strategy.

+ Ability to handle multiple tasks in pressure situations.

+ Reliability and Responsibility to meet deadlines.

+ Outstanding communication and teamwork skills.
