Recommends process improvements, innovative solutions, policy changes and/or major variations from established policy, which must be approved by appropriate leadership prior to implementation.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
What are the role requirements?
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience. Master's degree in human resource management, MIS, computer science or related degree preferred.
At least 4 years related experience required.
Experience with creating dashboards and visualizations with Power BI required.
Experience with systems integration/implementation.
Proficiency working with HRIS, databases and reporting applications (UKG preferred).
Solid working knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, with at least an intermediate working level of Excel.
Understands and uses qualitative/quantitative measurement and data collection design principles.
Uses effective approaches for choosing a course of action or develops appropriate solutions to issues that arise.

Position Overview: The Data Analyst's primary role is to provide support to the teams in our many veterinary hospital locations and our headquarters (VU Hub). Veterinary United has more than 500 team members and 25 Locations encompassing: Veterinary Hospitals, Boarding Centers, and our VU Hub. They will work directly with the Senior Director of Analytics and other Analytics team members to support our growing medical, operational, and analytical initiatives in a high-volume ticket environment.
Hours: Full-time position, Monday through Friday, with occasional Weekend On-Call Coverage.
Environment: This is an in-office role, with occasional travel to external veterinary medical sites to conduct any support when necessary.
Our Data Analyst Team Member will:
Support organizational decisions and measure impact with analyses and collaboration within Analytics and interdepartmentally
Model and forecast financial and operational performance
Utilize statistical methods to identify trends, correlations, and anomalies in data
Provide actionable insights to improve quality of patient care; operational efficiency; and organizational, financial, and team health
Effectively impart complex and/or technical knowledge, including analytical rationale, to stakeholders
Lead projects associated with analytical insights and findings
Coach leaders regarding data hygiene and analysis
Identify, measure, and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop reporting frameworks
Implement novel data querying techniques
Query, clean, and analyze data
Create, improve, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), especially those regarding querying and analysis
Create recurring and ad hoc analysis and reports to support the organization
Assist with ad hoc data requests and special projects as required
Troubleshoot any issues in the analytical process from querying to conclusions
Collaborate with Team Members in the Analytics department and Organization to implement Analytics initiatives and solutions
Recommend improvements, especially those related to operational efficiency and financial performance
Navigate various practice management software platforms to query data and resolve issues
Understand complex data definitions to ensure data harmony in analyses
Record logs of work done and the resolution into support ticketing system
Perform remote and in-person diagnostics to our satellite veterinary offices
Assist with transaction auditing
Travel to our multiple in-state veterinary hospitals occasionally

Qualifications:
Have a Valid Michigan Driver's License
Bachelor's Degree in related field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Data Mining, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics) , or Commensurate Experience
Experience evaluating and improving processes in veterinary medicine
At least 3 years of Analytics or Business Intelligence experience with the ability to work independently
Proficiency in common data querying and analysis tools (e.g., Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel [including add-ins], Minitab, SPSS, SQL, R, Python)
Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, Looker)

Strong background in statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and experimental design
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
Experience working with large, complex data sets and unstructured data sources
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, economics, or computer science
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in a quantitative field or MBA
Experience in a consulting role, either internally or externally, providing strategic data-driven insights to marketing teams
Experience with marketing attribution and customer journey analysis
Familiarity with marketing technology stacks and data integration processes
Knowledge of agile project management methodologies
