Compensation Salary Schedule Under direction, the purpose of the position is to function as crew leader for custodial personnel engaged in highly responsible custodial tasks for an assigned school of the district. Employees in this class are responsible for planning and accomplishing a daily routine of custodial tasks that provide school personnel, students, and the public with an environmentally safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to work and conduct school activities. Responsibility areas include, but are not necessarily limited to daily unlocking and securing of facilities, routine inspection of facilities and grounds for hazardous conditions, and maintaining adequate supply inventories. Position oversees and participates in all facets of work under charge. Performs related work as directed. Responsibilities and Qualifications EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Responds to internal and external customers in a timely, accurate, courteous and empathetic manner representing OCPS in a positive light. Performs planning and coordination of daily custodial tasks; delegates tasks to custodial personnel under charge; monitors and inspects custodial work for compliance with assignments. Provides training and instruction to custodial personnel when weaknesses are observed; ensures compliance with established regulatory standards concerning safe use and application of chemical supplies (OSHA). Performs daily opening and securing of assigned school facility, i.e., opening gates, unlocking administration and classroom doors, inspecting grounds and facilities for hazards, turning on/off lighting and security systems. Monitors materials inventory and supply levels; orders new stock according to established policies; coordinates custodial equipment service and/or repair as required. Uses electrical cleaning equipment in the cleaning of the assigned facility during hours assigned, i.e., vacuum cleaners, shampoo machines, high speed buffers. Uses appropriate chemicals and cleaners safely and productively according to instructions and established State Department of Education regulatory to ensure personal, student, public, and staff safety. Performs custodial tasks, i.e., emptying and cleaning waste receptacles; washing windows; dusting furniture; cleaning vents, fans, walls. Performs sanitizing tasks in various facility areas, i.e., restrooms, kitchen and food areas, cafeterias. Performs physically demanding tasks requiring use of heavy custodial equipment, i.e., mopping, stripping, waxing, floor buffing. Responds to emergency situations in order to confine, resolve or prevent injurious or otherwise hazardous conditions, i.e., spills, broken windows, broken locks. Moves furniture and other equipment in the performance of duties. Cleans equipment and tools after use and maintains cleanliness and order in storage areas; reports equipment malfunctions and facility maintenance needs to immediate supervisor. Performs routine maintenance on facility custodial equipment, such as changing vacuum cleaner belts and bags, and changing buffer machine pads. Performs non-cleaning tasks in general facility maintenance, i.e., changing light bulbs, filling paper and soap dispensers, assisting in setting up for meeting/conferences. Leads custodial crews in major custodial projects, such as in seasonal facility preparations or floor stripping and waxing. Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by OCPS. With the support of the district, attends training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position. Responsible for timely and accurate information they maintain as part of their job responsibilities. Effective March 19, 2007, all new hires to this position must successfully complete the Industrial Physical Capability Screening (IPCS); previous incumbents holding this position without a break in service are not required to have this screening. JOB SUMMARY We are seeking Landscape Construction Team Members to join our Landscape Installation teams. Responsible for completing landscape installation jobs of high quality and in an efficient manner. Landscape installation using hand or power tools and earth moving equipment. Perform a variety of tasks, which may include planting, sod laying, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, mulching and irrigation installation. Safely operate equipment with all necessary personal protective equipment. Directly report to job sites in the following counties: Clermont, Tavares, Winter Garden, Kissimmee, Orlando This is a full-time year-round opening to replace core group vacancies. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES Digging holes and installation of plants, trees, grass and other plant materials. Mixes fertilizer and/ or compost as directed for planting. Installation of tree stakes as required. Hauling and installation of materials using wheelbarrow and a rake. Hauling and installation of edging, weed fabric, mulch, flagstone, ledge stone boulders, crushed granite, pavers, river rock, etc. Ability to operate landscape related tools i.e. weed-eater, mower, hedge trimmer, skid steer, plate compactor, pressure washer, etc. Check equipment before utilizing, and notify supervisor of damaged equipment. Waters plants, trees, lawns using a hose, portable sprinkler system or watering can. Builds forms for concrete, mixes concrete and/ or mortar as needed. Helps install masonry: concrete block, flagstone, pavers as needed. Places decorative boulders and stones. Must be able to use landscape related hand tools: rakes, shovels, broom, pick, axe, rock hammer, digging bar, wheelbarrow, hand pruners, loppers, machete, sod roller, etc. Maintain, cultivate and care of plant material owned or purchased by company. Operation, care, use and maintenance of all hand tools, power tools and construction equipment related to the trade. Lifting up to 75 pounds frequently throughout the workday Pulling and pushing materials and equipment. Stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time. Full range of mobility in upper and lower body; overhead reaching; ability to work in various positions. All other duties assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Prior landscape installation experience in commercial projects required.
