What We're About: Living City Farms aims to be and grow as a sustainable, community-minded business that: Encourages creation and beauty Fosters cross-cultural respect and improvement Redeems the community base through enterprises Creates meaningful employment opportunities Key Responsibilities: Plant Nursery: Seeding vegetable flats, transplanting plants, and setting up irrigation systems Assessing transplant health, hardening off, and maintaining records Refining best practices and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Post-Harvest: Assist with the design and workflow of wash/pack station Sort, wash, pack, and store produce according to food safety regulations Inspect and grade produce for quality Field Production: Bed prep, transplanting, weeding, fertilizing, and pest control Install and remove row covers, netting, and tarps Organic pest management and irrigation Mushroom Production: Monitor RH% in mushroom cultivation area Harvest and log data, inspect quality, and package mushrooms Harvest: Harvest produce multiple times per week and track harvest data Assist with produce deliveries and build customer relationships Community Engagement: Participate in farm tours, workshops, and community events Maintenance & Development: Install season extension infrastructure, plant trees, and build new growing blocks Occasional mowing and weed whacking Collaboration: Participate in regular team meetings and maintain effective communication with the farm team Education & Experience: Previous farming experience is a plus but not required A strong commitment to learning and practicing small-scale regenerative agriculture A valid driver's license with a clean driving record Skills & Abilities: Strong commitment to caring for people and the earth Ability to adapt and problem-solve in a dynamic work environment Good communication and collaboration skills Positive attitude and strong work ethic in high physical labor conditions Work Environment: Primarily outdoors in variable weather conditions Physical ability to withstand long hours of physical activity (up to 50 lbs lifting, bending, kneeling, etc.) Willingness to work in all weather conditions and on feet for extended periods Why Join Us? Position Summary: The Field Service Laborer will support the installation of proprietary secondary containment systems by operating machinery and tools to complete the installation project in a safe and timely manner. Key Roles / Responsibilities: Operate machinery to complete installation of containment systems including skid steers, augers, and other equipment as needed; always following safety protocol. Install, measure, and adject containment systems components such as posts, galvanized wall sections, and other perimeter support. Measure, mark, and place post locations including using basic mathematic formulas and reading measurement tools. Set post components using construction materials including concrete and dirt. Assist Technical Applicator with other tasks, as needed. Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications: Two (2) or more years of experience in construction, landscaping, oil & gas, or similar industry. One (1) or more years of experience operating small and medium-size machinery. Familiarity with hand tools including rock bars, shovels, rakes, et cetera. Current CDL driver's license is highly preferred. Ability to read digital and manual measurement tools including measuring tape, level, and others. Ability to lift, push, and pull seventy-five to one hundred (75-100) pounds regularly. Ability to perform highly physical work for eight to twelve (8-12) hours without injury. Ability to learn and apply proper practices by following safe work practices, standard operating procedures, and best practices. High school diploma or GED required. Some overnight travel is expected for this role.
