    In support of the OHSU Supply Chain & Logistics mission, this position on the Courier Services Team is responsible to provide timely and efficient transportation and delivery of medical supplies, sterile processed instruments, medicines, patient specimens, priority incoming & outgoing USPS & inter-company mail, checks, payroll, etc. The critical functions of the courier team are to support the offsite clinics, including Family Medicine, Immediate Care, CHH1/CHH2, DCH central and dispersed, CHO Clincs, offsite pharmacies, and other dental and dermatology clinics, both OHSU and privately run. This position requires the safe operation of OHSU supplied motor vehicles and other industry related equipment to provide these services. The safe operation includes following all state and federal traffic laws. This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service to both internal and external customers of the OHSU community. Function/Duties of Position Material Transportation & Delivery Transports materials throughout the OHSU campuses and Greater Portland Metropolitan Area on a pre-set, scheduled route. Follows all Federal, State, and Local laws in regard to motor vehicle operation and safety. Adheres to all departmental, parking, and safety policies and procedures in the operation of motor vehicles. Commonly transported materials include: US and inter-departmental mail, cash and check deposits, payroll, office and medical supplies, lab specimens, event materials, medical and lab equipment, and other business furnishings. Responsible for maintaining timeliness of route and adjusting as needed to traffic or weather conditions. Responsible for maintaining integrity of materials throughout the transportation chain. Requires the proper use of handheld devices for package tracking, signature capture, and GPS telemetrics. Vehicle Operation Properly operates OHSU owned and leased vehicles, in accordance with all Federal, State, and local laws, as well as departmental policy and procedure. Completes daily vehicle inspections and documents as necessary. Reports any discrepancies to appropriate coordinator or management team member. Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the interior and exterior of vehicles operated. May be asked to install snow chains during inclement weather events. General Warehouse Activities Assists in general upkeep of warehouse utilizing various types of equipment, including forklifts, pallet trucks, powered pallet trucks, swing masts, ladders, supply picking trucks, etc. Performs various custodial duties in warehouse areas including sweeping, rack maintenance, mopping, and removing trash. Customer, Dispatcher, and Management Interaction Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers both in-person and over the phone. Listens to customers' concerns and performs follow-up responsibilities as appropriate. Serves as a helpful resource to customers regarding OHSU and departmental policies & procedures. Uses strong written and verbal skills to communicate with customers, dispatcher, and manager in a prompt, professional and courteous manner. Contacts dispatcher after each job is completed, or as otherwise instructed. Responds to all phone calls, text messages, emails, and voice messages in a prompt and professional manner. Informs dispatcher and/or customers of any delays or issues in completion of requested services. Attends and participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings and/or one-on-one meetings. Clerical Accurate and timely completion of all various paperwork associated with daily activities including: Deposit Logs, Delivery Receipts, Dock 4 Logs, Overtime & Vacation Request Forms, Timecard Correction Forms, VIR books, etc. Returns completed paperwork to the responsible party. Properly fill out and keep track of Delivery Services Job Tickets as they are completed and turn in to the Delivery Services Dispatcher no later than the end of shift; this includes: Customer Signature, Start and End Times, Job Notes, Employee Names, leaving Receipt with Customer Other Activities Inspects condition of supplies and materials used to perform tasks; reports problems or concerns to appropriate employee. One year in health care environment. CDL with Passenger and Hazardous Materials Endorsement Additional Details Pay Range: $22.30 - $30.14 per hour This position reports at the Macadam Warehouse but includes traveling throught the entire OHSU campus in the Greater Portland Metro Area. There are 6 diffrenet courier routes ranging in diofferent start times within this classification. Frequent Exposure: Heat, Cold, Humidity, Wet Areas, Noise, Dust, Smoke, Vibration, Chemical Solutions, Slippery Areas, Uneven Surfaces Ability to lift up to 65 lbs. without the use of a mechanical device, occasionally lift and move equipment weighing in excess of 100 lbs. with assistance. Ability to lift 60 lb hand truck from ground level into vehicle repetitively throughout work shift. Ability to traverse flat, uneven and/or steep terrain and slopes, frequently while manually controlling large and heavy loads in motion using non-motorized equipment. There is driving of OHSU owned/leased vehicles.
