Part-time Description
The Courier is responsible for providing courier services for Farewells to include regular, scheduled services for all departments and locations and services in support of death certificate processing. Operates independently to assure timely, accurate, and reliable pick-up and delivery of documents and all other designated materials in keeping with established standards and practices.
SCHEDULE:
Monday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Tuesday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Drives company vehicle in performance of courier duties.
• Prioritize workload to efficiently utilize time
• Responds to multi-tasking and fluctuating demands
• Transports sensitive documents, and death certificates in a safe and secure manner
• Picks-up and delivers materials from a variety of locations
• Follows directions and schedules to meet time requirements
• Understands and explains elements of death certificate content
• Provides support to managers, funeral directors and staff on a “as required” basis
• Provides general care and maintenance of courier vehicles
• Promotes a positive environment that effectively represents Farewells' Mission, Vision and Values
• All other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
This job operates in a public environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
• Be able to drive company vehicle for up to 4 hours at a time and 8 hours per shift
• Lift up to 50 pounds to hip level
• Be able to work outdoors and drive in all weather conditions and hours of darkness
Requirements
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
• High school graduate, or equivalent.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
• Prior courier experience is a plus.
MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must have knowledge of Albuquerque's streets and major medical facilities.
MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to read, hear, understand, and process essential paperwork and instructions, both oral and written
• Must possess a valid NM driver's license with an insurable driving record per the qualifications of the company insurance provider
• Must be able to work flexible shifts
• Must be able to analyze situations and make recommendations for improved service
• Must be able to analyze and act appropriately with staff and public
• Must be able to manage time and meet deadlines
• Must be able to analyze and understand questions, instructions, and procedures/processes

The Courier Driver is responsible for collecting and delivering parcels, packages, and various size boxes. You must be able to lift 50 pounds. You must be willing to be able to drive for a few hours at a time. You will be required to make multiple trips to the airports and surrounding cities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Pick up or delivery of time-sensitive samples and/or equipment between client location and airport.
Position requires driving for various lengths of time in and around Albuquerque (ABQ Airport).
Evening and weekend work is required.
Maintain a written log of daily activity.
Ensure vehicle service/basic maintenance is kept up.
Additional tasks as needed per manager, based on the business needs.
Education and Experience
High School completion or equivalent is required.
3 or more years as a courier driver or experience is a plus.
Basic to intermediate experience using Windows operating system and Microsoft software applications is required.
Must have valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Must be good with directions/using GPS.
Must be organized and be able to prioritize tasks/deliveries.
Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret verbal and written requests and directions.
A customer-centric, positive demeanor when interacting with CNW clients and employees.
Can present oneself in a highly cooperative and professional manner.
