Ensures the food pantry, supply room and walk-in refrigerator / freezer are kept clean and organized. Assist with creating Kitchen, Tutu Bert's menu and USDA menu weekly. Assist the GSM / FSC in conducting Food Safety training classes and fostering a safe working environment for the GSA/ FSC staff and community volunteers. Maintain kitchen inventory and place orders for kitchen supplies. This opportunity is: Location: Honolulu, HI Status: Full-time Days/Hours: TBD Shift: Days and Evenings Base pay rate: $16.48 to $18.13 hourly In this role, you will: Perform a vital part of the patient care process by ensuring that reports, records, supplies, and medical specimens are successfully transported between the laboratory and healthcare provider locations. Ensure proper specimen handling, transport, and safe operation of a motor vehicle - rain or shine! Interact with a variety of clients and commit to customer-focused service. Champion safety, compliance, and quality control. All you need is: High School Diploma or equivalent. A valid driver's license and an excellent driving record for the past three years. Confidence in operating a vehicle in all weather and traffic conditions and navigating routine road hazards. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, under time constraints, without close supervision. Physical capability of light to medium lifting (up to 50 lbs). Bonus points if you've got: 2+ years of experience operating conventional vehicles for business purposes. This includes cars, trucks, and/or vans. Knowledge of medical terminology. The Guest Services Assistant (Food Safety Certified) cooks, coordinates and ensures timely meal service to all IHS guests. This position plans and prepares according to the meal service menu and work collaboratively with volunteer groups/individual volunteers providing ingredients or service in the IHS meal program kitchen. The Guest Services Assistant (Food Safety Certified) provides exceptional guest service and ensure the welfare, health and safety of all IHS guests. Compensation: Starting from $16.50 hourly up to $18.00, dependent on experience. Essential Functions: Demonstrate excellent customer service consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of the organization. Prepare and serve meals in accordance with food sanitation standard, proper temperature and meal program policies/procedure; Ensure special dietary needs or program food requests are met as appropriate. Assist and ensure that shelter/site premises including meal prep, storage and service areas are clean and organized; ensure the environment is free from safety/health hazards and report potential hazards or dangerous situations to Manager or Maintenance Dept. for repair schedules or immediate action. Properly store, rotate and utilize donated food items/pantry items according to best practices, USDA recommendations and as directed by the manager. Prep and set up work stations for the next meal service. Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of homelessness and the issues associated with it; mental health and substance abuse issues. Good interpersonal and written communication skills with an emphasis on conflict resolution. Excellent people and customer service skills. Possess personal qualities of integrity, patience and commitment to mission. Flexible and able to multitask; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment. Required Education and Experience: One year experience in commercial kitchens, soup kitchens and/or large scale cafeteria settings. Six months to one year of direct service or customer related experience working with disenfranchised or medically fragile populations. Basic computer skills; able to navigate Google email, Microsoft applications and databases. Expected Hours of Work: Hours include some evenings, weekends and holidays. Hours and days may vary based on the needs of the organization.
