Job Description
The Associate Therapist works in a dynamic multidisciplinary team providing treatment services according to the Discovery Clinical Model. Therapist responsibilities include ensuring patient safety, providing milieu interventions, leading psychoeducational and process-oriented therapy groups, facilitate clinical assessments, conduct therapy sessions, and other case management tasks, as assigned.

Establish therapeutic rapport with patients and families/loved ones.
Facilitates admission assessments and the admission process for new patients with professionalism, courtesy, and a welcoming attitude.
Understands role in providing expeditious access to care for individuals seeking services.
Participates in weekly treatment team and communicates weekly treatment goals with all team members.
Maintain a case load of 5-6 patients in RTC and 10-15 in OP level of care..
Completes appropriate number of therapy sessions assigned weekly for patients, including family/support system sessions aligned with the patients' level of care.
Facilitates process orientated and psychoeducation groups one to two times, daily in RTC and 2-4 times daily in OP.
Required to sit at a meal and/or snack a minimum of once per week.
Facilitates multi-family groups, family program, and/or family weekend.
Provides utilization reviews to insurance companies, providing appropriate clinical information to obtain initial authorization and continuing stay authorization, as necessary.
Is appropriately accessible to family members or loved ones. Returning all calls and emails within 2 hours during business hours of operations and 24-48 hours all other times.
Assesses patients for suicidality and possibility of danger to self or others.
May provide additional clinical support for other members of the clinical team in their absence.
Communicates with the Utilization Review Department and Business Department regarding authorization and payment.
Begins discharge planning on day of admission for all patients.
Completes discharge session with patient to ensure coping skills, transition plan, and resources are understood and intact.
Ensures discharge appointments are confirmed with patient and loved ones prior to discharge.
Communicates with referral sources and outpatient providers for continuity of care upon admission, midpoint, and discharge.
Facilitates patient transfers to higher level of care, as needed.
Actively participates in clinical outreach and program tours, as needed.
Effectively manages crises in sessions and the milieu.
Provides support to milieu staff in their interactions with patients and their loved ones.
Works collaboratively with the entire treatment team and milieu staff to always ensure the highest level of clinical quality.
Completes other tasks, as requested, or assigned.

The Child Study & Treatment Center (CSTC) has an opportunity available for a Psychiatric Child Care Counselor 2 to join their team. You will inspire a safe and comfortable therapeutic milieu and make a positive impact in the lives of children and youth with psychological and safety needs.
In this role you will lead staff and the treatment, counseling, and supervision for children and adolescents who have emotional, psychological, and behavioral health issues in a psychiatric hospital setting. You'll gain knowledge through training and experience in Motivational Interviewing, safety training, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
Please note: This is a swing shift position. The anticipated shift is 2:30pm-11:00pm Tuesday - Saturday (Sun/Mon off).
Evening and Night shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate.

As shift charge, directs the staff team and programming for severely emotionally, behaviorally and psychologically disturbed children and adolescents in a psychiatric hospital setting serving mental health and forensic admissions.
Implement the cottage program and individualized behavioral plans.
Lead staff in providing mentorship and situational counseling to adolescent and pre-adolescent children in the cottages.
Facilitate the development of social skills, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, as well as assist children with activities of daily living.
Complete treatment plan progress summaries and suggest treatment goals.
Assign and monitor the work of Psychiatric Child Care Counselors, including but not limited to: ensuring documentation is complete and up to hospital standards, policies are being followed, cottage program and individual goals are followed, and providing feedback when necessary.
Train and monitor staff performance and provide feedback to the supervisor.

Implement age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate interventions based on the current treatment plan.
Encourage, supervise, and participate with patients in group or individual recreational, social, and therapeutic activities.
Escort patients to and from activities and medical appointments.
Intervene in response to behavioral escalations.
Communicate with parents/guardians, case workers, and probation officers to discuss patient progress.

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Licensed Mental Health Counselor provides expertise in counseling that includes providing assessments, individual counseling, and case management; possesses strong crisis intervention skills and will be able to provide comprehensive individual and group therapy.

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Counselor is responsible for milieu management while engaging clients in a direct social service program. Time is divided among direct service, operations, and administrative responsibilities to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the program. ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Otto's Place Enhanced Shelter removes barriers for individuals transitioning out of homelessness by combining overnight shelter with 24/7 on-site support services and intensive case management, behavioral clinician, including housing navigation. In addition to services, we offer 100 individual sleeping areas for male-identifying guests, meals, laundry, and service pets. This combination of shelter and services enables us to meet people where they are and build a supportive community to help people currently living in tents or encampments to move toward stability. Referrals are directed from the City of Seattle's The Hope Team.

Work Environment and Physical Effort
