    COUNSELOR-3 JOB DESCRIPTION New Season For over 30 years, New Season Treatment Centers have been a leading national health care service provider of outpatient treatment centers that specialize in providing safe, quality and best in class care for individuals living with Opioid Use Disorder ("OUD"). Operating in over 70 treatment centers in multiple states, our team members are engaged in medication-assisted treatment, counseling, support, and care management of individuals living with OUD. We treat the whole person and, in so doing, address the underlying causes of OUD in an effort to provide a continuum of care that not only addresses treatment needs but supports the patient on their journey to recovery. Job Summary: New Season operates a number of nationally recognized and accredited methadone treatment centers dedicated to helping individuals with prescription drug abuse and/or opiate addiction regain control of their lives. We take great pride in treating our patients with dignity and respect in each phase of their treatment experience Essential Functions: Works with patients to complete all intakes, admissions, discharges, and transfer paperwork. Documents patient progress through counseling and interaction through groups. Completes patient psychosocial and an individualized treatment plan within the required time frame. Identifies any clinical/case management needs and works to address those needs. Performs individual, group, and family counseling as required. Performs at least 20 hours of direct one-on-one patient contact per week through individual or group counseling. Reports patient abuse, neglect and exploitation as required. Reports patient grievances as required. Educates patient in all aspects of treatment, corresponding health issues and steps to recovery. Obtains Urine Drug Screens and initial patient photo identification. Assists in monitoring all patient activities on center premises. Actively participates in community relations activities as directed and authorized. Ensures the reading and understanding of the Policy and Procedures Manual. Ensures compliance with 42 CFR Part 2 (Federal Confidentiality Regulations) and 45 CFR, Parts 160 & 164 (HIPAA) Is responsible for obtaining or maintaining proper licensure and/or certification according to specific state requirements. Actively participates in preparation for surveys and inspections conducted by CARF, the State, DEA, Board of Pharmacy and any other agency site visits as dictated by the state laws or regulations. Participates in all staff meetings Ensures compliance with local, State, Federal and Colonial Management Group, LP rules, regulations and policies. Always acts in the best interests of the program and company; honors, supports, and protects the proprietary data and rights of the company. Performs other tasks as assigned by clinic, region or corporate leadership. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develops and initiates a plan for identifying guidance needs of students. • Develops, implements and updates a written guideline-by-objectives plan based on the needs of students. • Assists school staff in implementing activities to meet students' needs and interests; such as a substance use and abuse, work ethics, career education. • Conducts group guidance sessions on topics such as study skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills, and decision- making. • Conducts individual counseling sessions. • Assists students in developing skills for preventing and/or resolving problems. • Assists students in becoming aware of their academic potential and to develop motivation for optimum achievement. • Assists in proper placement of students. • Provides in-service for teachers in areas of communication skills, self-concept, classroom behavior management, parent conferences, and school relationships. • Assists in making effective use of test data. • Provides appropriate guidance materials to teachers for classroom/reference use. • Assists teachers in developing a plan to incorporate responsible student behavior. • Facilitates referrals to appropriate services or agencies. • Provides parenting information through conferences and/or study groups. • Assists in promoting effective communication among parents, community, and school personnel. • Keeps informed of current publications, materials, and guidance information. • Maintains working schedule to include 30 minutes before school begins and 30 minutes after school to be available to students and teachers. • Assists with monitoring student records for completeness and accuracy. • Participates in activities to insure program articulation among schools. • Conducts classroom guidance lessons on the components of Erin's Law to fulfill the requirements for middle school students. • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Principal. JOB SPECIFICATIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Master of Education in counseling, counselor endorsement. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid South Carolina Teaching Certificate in School Counseling. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures and instructional manuals. Ability to design and write professional development plans, reports and data entry procedures. Ability to effectively present professional development and training and respond to questions from groups of educators, trainees, media, administrators and organization members. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and in the display and interpretation of data. Ability to apply basic concepts of statistical analysis, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work related issues and problems. Ability to identify student adjustment and/or academic problems, provide counseling and/or recommend appropriate remedial action to parents. Ability to supervise students and maintain order in various classroom and instructional activities and situations. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to operate a personal computer and related software. Knowledge in the methods for developing lesson plans and materials, and classroom activities which stimulate learning. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, parents, and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to develop effective working relationships with staff and district employees. Ability to implement a flexible work schedule to meet the reporting deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required. Ability to perform duties with a high level of detail and accuracy. Ability to self-monitor and manage multiple tasks while working individually and with members of a group.
