The CARE Center at Barry University is currently seeking two part time Independent Licensed Mental Health Counselors for a temporary grant-funded assignment. The Licensed Mental Health Counselor is a funded position through The Children's Trust grant. The Licensed Mental Health Counselor is an integral part of the CARE Center and provides Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to parents/caregivers and children (ages 6-18) who have experiences traumatic experiences. TF-CBT sessions are provided through the CARE center at Barry University in-person and virtually. The goal is to help children and families develop the skills they will need to promote meaningful healing and development. Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is delivered as weekly 40-50-minute sessions over three to seven months depending on the level of need. Counseling sessions may center on the mental health and conflicts within the family. Standardized tools and evidence-based therapeutic models and psycho-educational interventions can be used. The clinician in this position will administer assessments and will provide mental health counseling using the Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach aimed at assisting children and their caregivers or parents in addressing post-traumatic stress and associated emotional and behavioral issues.
