The SUD Counselor I works in collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure best possible treatment outcome for the client and provide treatment in accordance with HealthRIGHT 360's philosophy, goals, policies, mission and vision. The SUD Counselor I provides supervision and oversite of the clients and children throughout the facility with shifts ranging to provide 24/7 coverage. SUD Counselor I provides facility coverage by supervising the clients during: chores, visiting hours, meal times, medication line, detox, donations, groups, and free time. The SUD Counselor I is customer service focused and frequently provides crisis intervention and client stabilization. The SUD Counselor I has a high degree of self-awareness and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Service:
* Maintains a high degree of self-awareness and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
* Assists clients with intake, assessment, and orientation to program upon admission.
* Utilizes trauma informed care while applying crisis intervention, motivational interviewing, and supervision of the clients.
* Completes facility rounds on a regular basis in order to maintain supervision of the clients and facility.
* Seeks clinical consultation when encountering new and/or high risk clinical circumstance.
* Provides facility coverage by supervising the clients during: chores, visiting hours, meal times, medication line, detox, donations, groups, and free time.
* Monitors visiting hours and addresses safety concerns.
* Works collaboratively with other members of the treatment team and communicates any behavioral concerns to the client's Case Manager, Clinical Therapist, Medical, and Psychiatrist.
* Maintains frequent communication with the treatment team and engages in regular consults, clinical

Clinical Documentation:
* Write and complete all progress notes within 72 hours of service delivery.

* Documentation must maintain in compliance with agency policy and procedures, HIPAA, 42-CFR, DMH, and SAPC standards.
* Documents all client UA's using the UA form and a progress note.
* Completes same day incident reports.
* Documents detox rounds and behavioral support rounds every 30 minutes as assigned.
Training, Supervision and Quality Improvement:
* Maintains full compliance with CCAPP or CADTP requirements for registration and certification.
* Attends and actively participates in assigned Clinical Group Supervision.
* Actively participates in agency and team meetings.
* Participates in training opportunities and pursues training in Evidence Based Practices.
* Communicates collaboratively with all members of the behavioral health team including: medical, mental health, psychiatry, substance use disorder, and other staff.
* Completes all assigned trainings and Relias trainings in a timely manner.
Education Requirements:
* Registration as Substance Abuse Counselor from an approved/accredited California agency.
* High School Diploma or GED
* Background check and livescan clearance required
Experience Preferred:
* Preferably a minimum of two years' experience in the human service field and demonstrated expertise in substance abuse treatment, relapse prevention, and recovery.

CRC is a medium Level II Non-Designated Programming Facility, centrally located near San Bernardino, Los Angeles, and Orange counties and near highways 15, 60, and 91. The primary goals of CRC are to provide an atmosphere of safety and security to the public, visitors, staff, and incarcerated people. The administration at CRC is cognizant of the rights and entitlements of all CRC commitments. In addition to staffing, CRC is also responsible for providing 100+ correctional custody personnel to provide medical guarding and transportation services to Patton State Hospital. The roles are similar, both provide therapy.

Based on assessment tool responses, provide one to one nutrition, psychosocial counseling and health education to clients.
Develop individual care plan and conduct appropriate follow-up for clients, in person and via phone calls.
Assist in the development/revision of assessment tool protocol.
Consult with psychosocial and nutrition consultants as appropriate.
Report/document client progress needs in medical charts.
Ensure/assist clients with practical arrangements for meeting medical, diagnostic, specialty consults, nutrition, psychosocial and other recommendations.
Assure that perinatology and obstetrical diagnostic reports are received and shared with provider.
Per provider order, contacts patient regarding follow up visits or other medical issues.
Assist patient with hospital pre-registration.

Follow-up on Medi-Cal eligibility issues.
Track patient data, including required UDS reporting, and complete reports as required.
Attend Comprehensive Prenatal Health Worker trainings.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:
Ability to work with adults and youth in a variety of settings.
Basic knowledge of reproduction, contraception and related topics.
CHW Certification and counseling skills.
Bilingual in English/Spanish.
One year prenatal care experience.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
