ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Supports maintenance and development of ODCHC gardens, food pantries, and other programs initiatives. Supports staff and community involvement in ODCHC gardens and food resource projects. Supports initiatives to identify patients/members for project participation. Be aware of available community food resources and access criteria. Disseminates information to staff and patients/members as appropriate. Maintain detailed and accurate record keeping of daily activities that support the garden, as well as cataloging photographs for garden updates. Attends meetings and trainings as assigned. Assists with grant project deliverables and tracks project data as appropriate. Other duties and responsibilities as designated by supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish constructive professional working relationships among a diverse workforce. Ability to identify and differentiate needs of patients/members and provide assistance and stimulate interest in accessing opportunities to increase and promote food security. Ability to effectively present information to staff, patients, and the community. Ability to work as a member of a team and independently as needed. Ability to handle difficult or confrontational situations in a calm, consistent, and equitable manner. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively represent ODCHC's interests in the community and maintain effective working relationships among co-workers, public, private, and professional groups. Proficiency in using tools and machinery such as weed whacker, tiller, mulcher, and construction tools. Proficiency in basic tasks such as watering, propagation, planting, integrated pest management, pruning, harvesting, managing weeds and invasive plants, maintaining and improving healthy fertile soil. Bi/Multilingual preferred but not required. Adheres to ODCHC's policies and procedures. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one year of experience in a similar role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. SUPERVISION AND SUPPORT: The Gardens and Food Resources Assistant reports directly to the Gardens & Food Resources Supervisor and is an integral member of the Gardens team.
