Job Summary Job Summary About Sky Mountain Outdoor Education Center: During the school year, we are a residential outdoor science camp supporting 5th/6th grade students from San Joaquin County. We create life changing experiences in the heart of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Here, our classrooms are the forests, the waters edge, and the inside of a snowbank. Our kitchen staff is an essential part of Sky Mountain Outdoor Education Center. The kitchen team is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving meals to the hungry guests who have worked up an appetite from exploring the outdoors. Cooks are sure to enjoy the view of the lake from the lodge and are encouraged to join the campfire when their schedules allow! During summers and weekends, we provide support for private guest groups and various summer programs. Job Summary: Under direct supervision of the site supervisor, the purpose of the position is to perform a variety of food preparation duties according to planned menus, recipes, and the number of persons to be served. Prepares and cooks meals in large quantities. Performs custodial duties as needed. Maintains the kitchen in a clean and sanitary fashion. Routine work is performed in accordance with established and well-known policies, practices, and procedures. Does related work as required. At times job may require spending the night at camp during inclement weather. Meals are included when the program is in operation.
