Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, specifications, and presentation standards.
Set up and stock workstations with all necessary supplies and ingredients.
Ensure proper food handling, hygiene, and cleanliness by following food safety guidelines and maintaining a clean work environment.
Assist in food prep (chopping, slicing, marinating, etc.) as needed.
Monitor food quality to ensure consistency and portion control.
Maintain station organization and keep cooking utensils, tools, and equipment in good working order.
Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations, including communicating with servers and other cooks to manage order flow.
Manage cooking times to ensure dishes are cooked to order and delivered on time.
Assist in inventory control by tracking stock levels and notifying supervisors when supplies are low.
Ensure proper handling and storage of food products, including refrigeration, thawing, and rotation, to prevent waste and spoilage.
Follow health and safety standards to prevent accidents, injuries, and foodborne illnesses.
Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and work areas at the end of the shift or as needed during service.
Assist with training new kitchen staff or line cooks as necessary.
Requirements:
Reliable transportation to and from work.
Knowledge of and ability to consistently prepare all food recipes and sub-recipes as instructed
Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbal and written form in a professional manner.
Ability to expedite tickets accurately and timely, and read/understand the kitchen monitors or printed tickets, behind the cooks' line.
Proper cooling and storing practices per health department rules and regulations.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to follow directions in a fast-paced environment; manage time effectively, and work well in a team environment.
At all times during employment, you must have a valid State Health Card and any other government-required cards.
