Job Summary
As a Food Service Cook at our youth residential facility, your responsibilities will include preparing and serving nutritious meals that meet the dietary needs of our residents. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for cooking and a desire to positively impact young people's lives. This role also involves working collaboratively with staff to create a supportive resident dining experience.
The Food Service Cook role requires compliance with all relevant sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards and adherence to established food production procedures. The position also involves using facility supplies and equipment to minimize loss and waste.
Essential Duties
Prepare and cook high-quality meals according to established menus and dietary guidelines.
Plan menus that accommodate various dietary restrictions and residents' preferences.
Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards in all food preparation and serving areas.
Monitor food inventory and assist in ordering supplies as needed.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and dining environment.
Assist in serving meals to youth while providing a supportive and positive dining experience.
Participate in training sessions and staff meetings, sharing ideas for meal planning and improvements in food service.
Collaborate with residential staff to integrate nutritional education and cooking activities into the daily routine.
Follow all organizational policies and procedures regarding food service and youth supervision.

Qualifications and Experience

This is a full-time, 40 hour/week position that requires availability to work 1st Shift hours (staying as late as 6pm) as well as alternating weekends, and a holiday rotation.
