* Develop on-site coordination of equipment, work plans, isolation (cut-over) plans, functional test plans, equipment lists, final documentation uploads, complete project binder, equipment energization lists, equipment energization notifications, and unintended incident notifications.
* Demonstrated ability to apply engineering skills and operational knowledge in the identification and resolution of technical problems in the field during the installation phase and testing phase.
* Directly witness or perform critical tests such as DC functional trip testing prior to energization and in-service.
* Work variable hours, including nights & weekends, and travel in the Northeast and northeastern Midwest based on customer requirements.
* Extended hours and consecutive workdays occasionally required during commissioning activities.

About the Role
As a Sr. Mechatronics & Robotics Technician, you will lead service technicians on the team in the installation and repair of automated packaging and distribution equipment. You will support the Operations Maintenance Team by designing solutions for difficult problems and managing projects. You will help train, and mentor service technicians and contract technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety: Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures.

The qualified candidate will assist in new product design development, design upgrades to existing products and lab infrastructure improvements to support the growth of the Sensing Solutions Business.
# Job Description
This position is responsible for supporting the design, build and testing of new prototype and existing industrial sensor, switch and thermal products.
+ Support cross functional teams with product design development and performance evaluation
+ Develop and conduct tests (mechanical, electrical, environmental) as required in support of design projects and quality analysis.
+ Responsible for preparing samples for test; test and measurement of protection product attributes; teardown and analysis of tested materials; determination of test requirements and methods based on test needs.
+ Writing and submitting test requests, summaries and conclusions.
+ Preparation of documents and engineering test database(s) with a methodology of capturing, sorting, finding and retrieving test data.
+ Will work with external agency personnel during test programs.
+ Support and conduct testing to required standards (UL, CE, customer specific)
+ Coordinate testing and logistical necessities of samples with other laboratories as necessary to enable the timely completion of engineering goals and objectives.
# Job Requirements:
+ BS/AS Electronics or Mechanical Engineering Technology preferred or relevant work experience
+ Working knowledge of and ability to interpret agency standards (UL, CE, etc.)
+ Familiarity with general electrical laboratory equipment, principles, and procedures including those related to general safety requirements.
+ Working knowledge of test and measurement equipment (Instron/Chatillion, Fluke/Nicolet/HP, laser/LVDT's) and techniques for measuring force, distance, voltage and current.

+ Good oral and written communication skills including the ability to describe test events and results in technical report format.

+ Overtime including weekends may be required in order to meet program schedules.
+ Foreign travel may be required
+ Some travel may be required; less than 5%.Travel is mostly, but not limited to, various testing facilities in U.S. and abroad to complement internal testing programs.

Summer hiring positions provide technical assistance to mechanical and electrical design engineers by performing maintenance, testing, and repairs to electrical or mechanical systems. Internal working titles for these positions could be
Engineering Assistant I, II, or II to commensurate with experience.
Engineer Assistant I:
With close supervision, uses established procedures to perform prescribed tasks related to the engineering support of oceanographic research.
Engineer Assistant II:
With some supervision, applies acquired knowledge of established procedures to the assembly, testing, and use of equipment in support of engineering projects related to oceanographic research.
Engineer Assistant III:
With little supervision, applies broad knowledge of established procedures to the assembly, testing, and calibration of equipment developed and used in support of engineering projects related to oceanographic instrumentation.
The final level of these positions will be determined commensurate with the selected candidates' level of education and experience.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Engineer Assistant I:
Basic mechanical or electrical assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
Engineer Assistant II:
In addition to the duties of an Engineering Assistant I, this position will interface with machine and mechanical shops, generate documentation and upkeep.
Engineer Assistant III:
In addition to the duties of an Engineering Assistant II, this position will use machining tools, use CAD to complete draft and design work, and follow through on component part fabrication in WHOI's machine and mechanical shops.
All Levels: must be willing to take on a variety of tasks.
Education and Experience:
Engineer Assistant I:
Experience using hand and power tools is required
CAD familiarity is required
High school diploma plus 1-year mechanical or electrical experience is desired.
Engineer Assistant II:
Working knowledge of CAD is required
Basic knowledge of machine tools (lathe, drill press, milling machines) is desired
Interface with machine and mechanical shops is desired
1-2 years' progress toward and engineering degree is desired.
Engineer Assistant III:
In addition to Engineering Assistant, I skill sets, CAD design and drafting is required
Machine tool use (lathe, drill press, milling machines) is required
Follow thru for on component part fabrication via WHOI shops is required
2-3 years' progress toward and engineering degree is desired.
Additional Job Requirements
Physical duties for this position include but are not limited to the ability to lift less than 25 lbs. independently, 2 times per day, carry 10-25 lbs., 2 times per day. Visual abilities to include near, far, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to distinguish basic colors. Hearing requirements include the ability to hear and respond to instructions, communicate effectively in loud areas (pier/dock, warehouse). Other physical tasks include occasional prolonged standing/walking, use of hands for basic/ fine grasping and manipulation, repetitive motion, reaching above and below the shoulders, pushing, pulling, kneeling, bending, twisting, others. Will be exposed to dust or other irritants and electrical/ mechanical/ power equipment hazards. Physical duties are subject to change.
