Summary:
The Assistant Controller is responsible for assisting in the overall management of the accounting department, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and contributing to the development and implementation of sound financial strategies. Principal Responsibilities:

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance. 8+ years of relevant work experience; ideally with a mix of government contracting, public accounting and industry (preferably in a manufacturing environment).
* Strong background in Cost Accounting required. Above average written and verbal communication skills required.
* The ideal candidate will be highly experienced with government audit (DCAA/DCMA) and FAR/CAS. Self-starter, able to work independently or as part of a team; good presentation skills. Comfortable with MS Office and various ERP systems.

Position Summary:
We are currently seeking an experienced Project Controller to join our Provo, UT team! The Project Controller plays a critical role in overseeing the financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring alignment with budgetary goals and project schedules. This role involves budgeting, cost tracking, financial reporting, contract management, and risk mitigation to maintain financial control and project efficiency for a large data center construction project. The Project Controller collaborates closely with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, and Finance teams to provide accurate reporting, proactive financial analysis, and strategic decision support.
What You'll Do
Key Responsibilities:
Budgeting & Forecasting
Develop and manage project budgets, including detailed cost breakdowns for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
Assist in setting up Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) in coordination with Project Managers and corporate Major Projects structure.
Lead forecasting efforts in collaboration with Project Managers and Construction Managers.
Monitor and adjust project cost-to-complete estimates to reflect actual expenditures and forecast future costs.
Identify budget variances and implement corrective actions to maintain financial integrity.
Cost Tracking & Analysis
Monitor actual project costs against budget and provide variance analysis.
Track and report cost drivers affecting financial performance.
Ensure financial data is accurately recorded in Ecosys and other financial management systems.
Verify weekly costs and financial postings, ensuring correct coding and categorization.
Identify cost-saving opportunities to improve overall project profitability.
Financial & Progress Reporting
Generate detailed financial reports, such as income statements, cash flow analysis, variance reports, balance sheets (as applicable)
Track project progress against the schedule and provide weekly and monthly reports on cost and schedule performance.
Provide trend analysis on actual vs. budgeted costs and performance indicators.
Support the monthly risk registry update, identifying financial and operational risks.
Contract & Change Order Management
Review and manage contracts with vendors and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with financial and legal terms.
Track and process change orders, assessing their financial impact and coordinating approvals.
Work with legal and project teams to negotiate contract terms when needed.
Monitor project cash flow to ensure timely invoicing and collections.
Maintain compliance with contractual obligations, ensuring adherence to budget and project timelines.
Risk Management & Compliance
Identify potential financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Ensure adherence to company financial policies, internal controls, and accounting standards.
Assist in internal and external project audits, ensuring compliance with construction accounting principles.
Monitor Accounts Receivable Aging Reports, Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), and retainage receivables to improve cash flow management.
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with the Project Manager, Site Supervisors, Finance, and Procurement teams to ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
Participate in monthly job review meetings with key stakeholders, providing insights on financial health, forecasting accuracy, and risk exposure.
Support RFQ (Request for Quote) and RFI (Request for Information) processes by providing financial input on project feasibility.
Participate in team strategy meetings to discuss cost control measures and project efficiencies.
What You'll Bring
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or a related field.
MBA, MFPA, or advanced financial certifications preferred.
3-5 years of experience in project accounting, construction finance, or project cost control.
Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, budgeting, and forecasting.
Experience with high-voltage transmission & distribution construction projects is a plus.
Proficiency in JDE, SAP, or other financial management systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with expertise in variance analysis.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).
Proficiency in project management software and financial reporting tools.

Position Summary
Thales is looking for a Finance Plant Controller for SLC, partnering with the Functional Leadership team to deliver world class end to end finance support, from the daily operations to delivery of all strategic initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance. 8+ years of relevant work experience; ideally with a mix of government contracting, public accounting and industry (preferably in a manufacturing environment).
Strong background in Cost Accounting required. Above average written and verbal communication skills required.
The ideal candidate will be highly experienced with government audit (DCAA/DCMA) and FAR/CAS. Self-starter, able to work independently or as part of a team; good presentation skills. Comfortable with MS Office and various ERP systems.
Must be a US Person as defined in applicable law.
